Kim Seokmin paced the length of his study, his sharp features illuminated by the golden glow of the ornate chandelier. His mind was spinning, calculating every possible option to secure his plan.
He needed someone to marry Taehyung, a someone who wouldn’t pose a risk to his precious reputation. The wrong choice could ruin everything, but the right one... that could save his entire career.
“Hire someone for money?” he muttered under his breath. “No, too dangerous. They could spill the truth for a higher price.” He tapped his fingers against the polished wood of his desk, the sharp sound echoing in the otherwise silent room. “A non-disclosure agreement? Useless if they talk even to one soul.”
Seokmin sighed in frustration, running a hand through his graying hair. His gaze wandered to the window, where the city lights glittered like tiny promises of power and success. Then, like a bolt of lightning, it struck him. A slow, calculated smile curled his lips.
“Perfect,” he murmured, his eyes narrowing. “Absolutely perfect.”
He reached for the intercom on his desk and buzzed his secretary.
“Contact Jeon Hyunwoo,” he said, his voice calm but laced with an undertone of command. “Tell him I want to see him. And if he refuses...” Seokmin’s smile widened, sinister and confident. “Remind him that I can still use his little... secret. That should bring him running like a dog for a bone.”

Across the city, in a modest but warm law office, Jeon Hyunwoo sat reviewing paperwork with a focused expression. The years had been kind to him; his wisdom showed in the faint creases on his face and the silver streaks in his hair. His work was his pride, his family his solace. And the Life, not so rich ,but fulfilling is everything for him.
A sharp knock at the door broke his concentration. “Come in,” he called.
The door opened, revealing a man dressed in a crisp black suit. Kim Seokmin’s secretary. The sight of him made Hyunwoo’s heart skip a beat. Memories from years ago, buried but never forgotten, resurfaced like an unwelcome tide.
“Mr. Jeon,” the secretary greeted with a polite yet sharp tone. “Mr. Kim Seokmin wishes to meet with you. He has an important matter to discuss.”
Hyunwoo’s face tightened. “Tell him I’m not interested. I’ve left that chapter of my life behind. There’s nothing I need to discuss with him.”
The secretary didn’t flinch. He leaned slightly closer, lowering his voice. “Mr. Kim anticipated your response. He asked me to remind you… that he still remembers your secret and... He believes that should be enough incentive for you to reconsider.”
The color drained from Hyunwoo’s face. His hand, steady moments ago, now trembled slightly as he gripped the edge of his desk. “He wouldn’t dare,” Hyunwoo whispered, more to himself than the secretary.
“Oh, he would,” the secretary replied smoothly. “And you know it. Mr. Kim requests your presence at his mansion immediately.”
Hyunwoo sat frozen for a long moment, his mind racing. The secret he’d buried so carefully, the one he thought would never resurface, now loomed over him like a dark cloud. If Seokmin revealed it, the consequences could ruin everything he’d built, not just for himself, but for his family.
With a deep breath, Hyunwoo rose to his feet, his face pale but resolved. “I’ll go,” he said quietly. “Lead the way.”
The car ride to the Kim mansion was silent, tension hanging heavy in the air. Hyunwoo stared out of the window, his mind a whirlwind of fear and anger. He despised Seokmin for dragging him into this once again, for threatening the peace he fought so hard to create.
