Unattainable

Many days went by ,those days turned into weeks and those weeks turned into Months ,not a day went by that she did not think about him, every day she prayed that he would come back alive to her ,she was to be married to someone else but she knew who her heart needed, she made her decision that she would wait on his return. She would submit to him and give him her all. She knew she loved him and she knew he loved her .She called off her engagement that very day. The men will be returning from war any day now and she knew she had to prepare for Adanath's return.

The days were getting closer and closer and each day felt long as the time drew near .

The day finally came ,Tatiana felt a pit in a stomach as she has not seen Adanath since their last encounter ,she knew he was alive because Aiden wrote to Karis everyday, informing her about the journey ,the villages and the people .The war was won ,they lost many men but she was glad that she had not lost Adanath.

The snow fell from the sky that day ,it was crystal clear ,the sound of the trumpets echoed through the kingdom, as the remaining men returned from war ,the streets were crowded with whistling sounds of cheer and wailing ,it was a bitter sweet .

Tatiana browsed through the crowd ,to see if she could spot Adanath ,she knew he was close ,there was a pit in her stomach and her body started trembling as the sounds of horses hoofs drew closer.

And there he was on his black horse ,his armor filled with snow ,her heart dropped as soon as the love of her life returned through the castle gate ,she was awaiting his return for so long and there he was ,the crowed cheered "OH HAIL THE PRINCE "!!!, "LONG LIVE THE PRINCE " ,'THE PRINCE HAS RETURNED "

His horse was coming closer ,somehow he was so far but felt so near ,their eyes finally met in the crowd, but there was something different about him ,he seemed cold ,he looked at her differently ,not the way he used to looked at her ,there was no emotion at all ,how could it be, that the eyes that used to be filled with warmth and love have a sudden coldness towards her.

She felt that there was an unspoken tension between the two of them, unspoken desire but there was something dark about him this time ,that was unexplainable .His eyes was as cold as the ice that fell on his armor . She tried to spot if there was any emotions at all but he concealed it so well.

He looked away and went on through the crowd ,Tatiana was left in confusion ,she thought somehow he would be happy to see her ,for he confessed his love to her, how could it be that he lost his sense of love and care for her. A tear brushed down her cheek as she watched him disappear into the crowd .

She tried brushing it off and telling herself that he had just returned from war ,he needed time alone and she was going to give him all the space he needed but for some reason she felt that she wanted to be there for him as well.

"Tatiana " she heard a familiar voice behind her ,it was Karis ,her long last friend ,she had a concerned look on her face

"yes" Tatiana responded ,her voice shaky ,she was fighting back tears

"You're shaking ,poor thing ,have you seen him ?"

"Yes I have and I'm sorry I did "she responded now with tears gushing out of her eyes .

"Tatiana" she muttered as she invited her friend in for a comforting hug ,"his just returned from war give him time ,make way home and rest now ,I will see you later ,I have news for you she smiled.

"Then please come and see me immediately ,for I hope this great news will make everything better "she whispered wiping her tears away .

"I will see you tomorrow sweetie, my husband is finally home and we missed each other dearly ,her eyes shifted in the crowd and her face lit up ,Tatiana has never seen her friends face glow ,it was like she saw a unicorn .

AIDEN!!! she screamed "my love ,you've made your way home to me "she ran through the crowd straight into her husbands arms .

"I hope you took care of my heart while I was gone love " he said embracing her in his arms .

They kissed ,they cried and they laughed ,they were finally reunited.

Tatiana looked at them ,she was happy ,her friend had found true love ,the type of love you read about in books ,the type of love you think about when you a little girl .Maybe she was not deserving of that type of love ,she thought as she disappeared into the crowd of people .

"I have missed you dearly ,everyday that I fought ,I fought with all my might because I knew my victory would be coming home to you ,I told myself every day that I need to see your face again ,that it was not the last "he said looking at her while holding her face.

"Never leave us again ,promise me Aiden ,every day I prayed for your return, being a month away feels like a decade because it you ,I even forgot what you sounded like she said with tears sweeping down her face "

"I will never leave you.., wait what did you mean by us ? Wait is it what I think it is ?"

"Yes you are going to be a father ,the physician said we shall expect the little one, when the first flower blossoms for spring "she smiled

"We are going to be parents! "he exclaimed "Now this is what I call a great victory ,he said as the tears fell down his cheeks as he smiled at Karis ."You make me happy ,I feel like I am the luckiest man on this earth when I'm with you ,you're a gift from god ,I don't understand how I was chosen to love you "he said as he looked at her with loving eyes .

"You were chosen for a reason and I thank god that he chose you to love me ,I will forever be grateful ,I feel like you were created just for me but lets make haste and go home my love ."
