Serpies reside majorly in the region of Sergrela. While some tread to the land rarely, it is not a common occurrence, and the vast majority stay within the deep waters they first called home. There are various groups of serpies, some differing from others in physical appearance. Some individuals call serpies what humans call merfolk or sirens.
However, due to the variants to all sorts of serpies, that would be a partially inaccurate description to all serpies. Some serpies are more related to piscine species, while others are more connected to cephalopods or even crustaceans, though the latter are harder to find and tend to reside in the deeper sections of Sergrela.
Serpies live in various "cities" or sectors within Sergrela, the most populated one being Eucalles. While there are various sectors and "cities" in Sergrela, Eucalles is by far the most visited one and the one with most political value if you were to weigh it against other parts of Sergrela, such as the northeastern sector of Nemyes, which isn't abandoned by any means, but it doesn't hold as much power or authority compared to Eucalles.
In Eucalles, what gives most of the power to the serpies is a substance known as osietic energy. Osietic energy has various functions—humans and serpies don't use it the same way either. To serpies, osietic energy is like electricity in the human world. It powers their realm like with no other known species. When imbued with a serpie's body in small amounts, it can cause the body to carry out its functions in a faster, more capable manner; it will essentially be converted to energy for use.
However, too much of osietic energy imbued with a serpie leads to osietic corruption. Osietic corruption manifests in various ways, but depending on how much osietic energy was imbued with the serpie is how affected they will be and how much will change in their body, both internally and externally.
