~Epilogue~
4 years later - Charlie Williams
As I walk into the kitchen I stumble in my steps when I see my wife by the stove. It's about 5:30 in the morning and Ols doesn't have to be up for another two hours. I sneak up behind her and wrap my arms around her belly, inhaling her scent.
"What are you doin up so early baby?"
"I'm hungry."
I look over her shoulder to see her frying eggs on the pan and smile to myself. Since getting pregnant, she's been eating so much more and it makes me so happy. She's six months pregnant with our son and even though she blames the baby for her new sudden hunger, I know it's her finally healing from the terrible mindset she had for herself since she was little. I won't tell her that though. Not until after our little boy arrives. But for now, I'm going to help her create good, strong, healthy habits.
"I could've made you something, why didn't you wake me up?" I tell her, giving her a kiss before bumping her to the side with my hip and taking over her egg frying.
"You were sleeping and you looked so peaceful and I didn;t want you to have to cook for me when you do it all day long for everybody else."
"You're my wife. I cook for you. I bake for you. I am your servant, darling. Whatever you want, I will give you. No matter how tedious it is." I tell her
She gives me a look that says ok, ok, I get it and goes to sit on our couch. I finish the eggs she was making and put them on a plate before going to join her on the couch. I sit next to her and watch as she eats her eggs before I have to go get ready for work. Because Ols isn't on maternity leave yet, we still don't get to see each other a ton especially now that I'm trying to make sure that my second restaurant doesn't crash. After opening my first restaurant, it was doing so well that we decided to open another one. The second restaurant had been open only a few months when we found out that my girl was pregnant. It wasn't planned but it's one of the best surprises ever. We did want to have kids, we just wanted to wait a few more years.
Just last week though, my second restaurant's entire fridge system broke. I don't know how it happened, but somehow the fans all broke. At the same time. I blame kendrick but I can't prove it. I just know he threw cakes inside them. He has had a stick up his butt since the second day on the job but he was looking extra giddy the day I found the broken fans. I have had to stay longer at work trying to crunch the numbers to see how much it would kill our first restaurant to buy a whole new fridge system.
Ollie interrupts my thoughts when she lays her head on my shoulder. I was in the middle of trying to find which color tie I wanted so Ollie picked it for me. Dark blue with white stripes on it. She shifts me so that she can wrap it around my neck and tie it for me. After she's done, she gives me a kiss before walking around me and getting her dance clothes.
"When can you be done dancing?" I ask her gruffly. I don't like the thought of her dancing while she's pregnant but who is she to listen to me?
"When I get to thirty-five weeks, you know this." she says lightly.
Because she hasn't opened her own studio yet, she has decided that she wants to take maternity leave then come back for the season's last two weeks to say goodbye before quitting permanently. After the baby gets a little older, she is going to try to open her own studio.
After getting dressed, she gives me another kiss before walking past me and I follow her out of our closet like a lost puppy. She goes back into the kitchen to fill up her water bottle and then get ready to go. As she's doing that, I reluctantly go back into our bedroom and comb my hair before slipping my shoes on and getting ready to go myself. We leave at pretty much the same time everyday, so to spend any extra time we can together, I will drop her off at the studio and pick her up at the end of the day. It also helps make sure I don't spend any more time than I need to at work. Of course, it doesn't always work out that way but most of the time it works well.
I walk out of the bedroom to see my babe slipping on her shoes. I grab her bag, and her hand and lead her to the door before locking it and we walk to the car. I drop her off at the studio before going back home. She doesn't know that I'm going home. I'm going to surprise her by finishing the nursery. She has been wanting to do it for weeks but she is always super exhausted after work and always too busy during the weekends. But yesterday, the final piece, her rocking chair arrived. So now, I'm going to surprise her by setting it all up so that when I go pick her up from work, she will get to see it.
I get to work setting up the crib and all the rest of the furniture we needed for the baby. After finishing the crib, rocking chair, dresser, and changing table, I get to work trying to figure out these wall stickers. She ordered animals and I don't know how in the world they're supposed to stick to the wall.
Do I put water on them?
They're sticky but I don't think they're sticky enough to actually stay on the wall.
After almost 30 minutes of trying to figure it out on my own, I decide against texting Ollie and ruining my surprise, so instead I go onto google and spend another 30 minutes and I finally discover the best way to put these sticky nightmares up. Finally, an hour an a half later, I have them up on the wall and I'm never moving them again. Unless of course, Ollie asks me to, then I will.
After finishing the nightmare called the wall stickers, I hang up his name plaque and a couple other decorations around the room that she had set aside to be hung up. Then I unwrap the brand new rug and set that up too. I'm realizing I did all of this basically the opposite order of how it's supposed to be done and therefore that's probably why it was so hard to put the rug down. After finally finagling the rug underneath the crib, dresser and rocker, I can get to work on the giant pile of clothes, diapers and just random baby paraphernalia all in a pile inside the closet.
Once all that is sorted, I finally am done with the room. I'm pretty sure it was close if not how she wanted the nursery done because she only showed me a bajillion layouts of the same exact thing saying this was how she wanted it. Since I still have a few hours before I have to go grab Ols, I head into the restaurant to make sure they haven't burned it down yet.
-----------------
As the love of my life walks into the nursery with my hands covering her eyes, I'm almost jumping with excitement leading her in. As I uncover her eyes, I see her eyes widen and she starts to spin around the room in awe, bouncing from thing to thing just taking it all in. After at least 10 minutes of her silently celebrating, she finally turns to me.
She gives me tons of little kisses on the lips before saying, "You are the best. Thank you babe. I love you so much you don't even know." she gives me tons more kisses before going back to look at all the baby clothes that I had hung up in color coded order.
As I lean against the door frame staring at my wife in awe, I realize my life is going almost exactly how I wanted it to go. Albeit a little earlier than I thought, but still good. I never would've imagined a time when I was able to live just fine with my diabetes and not be worried that I'm going to crash all the time. I have my dream restaurants and my perfect wife doing what she wants to do with our son on the way. I think it's safe to say that our life is doing pretty good and is only going to get better.
