Roman: good morning starshine!
The earth says hello!

Virgil: whyyyyy did we plan to do this so earrllyyy

Roman: oh come now, it's only 10am!

Virgil: kill meeeee

Roman: we can always reschedule!

Virgil: noooo
Virgil: I'm already up it's no worries

Roman: if you say so :p lmk when ur otw!

Virgil felt a familiar sense of regret as he got up to start his day. He kept telling himself this was a stupid idea, but something about that made it exciting. Although, that could have just been his nerves.

One of the first things you learn about the internet growing up is that strangers who reach out to you are usually scammers. Even with this in mind, though, the unique instance of their meeting helped to convince him that this couldn't just be some elaborate scheme. The call, the photos, the area code. Sure, it wasn't new for phishers to use a strategy like that. And Virgil most likely wouldn't have gone through with it, if it weren't for the fact that he was almost positive he had seen that face before. Roman had mentioned that he also went to OCC. It'd make perfect sense that Virgil saw him there before.

With his curiosity getting the best of him, he decided to follow through with their plans. He had to know for sure, and this was the perfect way to find out.

Virgil sighed as he parked his car, opening his mirror for the thousandth time to make sure he looked okay.

Roman: hey text me when u get here I'll save us a table :)

"Shit." Virgil jumped at the sudden notification. By now, his nerves started kicking into overdrive.

Virgil: pretty much here I'll see u inside!

With a shaky sigh, he shook his head and opened his door. No point in panicking now.

He walked through the parking lot slowly, shaking off every thought that yelled at him to turn around and drive home.

Eventually, he reached the dreaded doors of the establishment. With a sigh of unease, he pushed open the doors.

Pov: virgil

"Hi, welcome! How many are we seating?"

"Uh..I'm here with Roman? I think he saved a table." God that feels weird to say out loud.

"Right this way." The waiter smiled, leading me towards the back of the restaurant. I try to walk quickly to match her pace to just get it over with. The anticipations killing me.

I eventually spot him, looking down at his phone and looking just as awkward.

"Oh I see him now, thanks." I said, trying to save the hosts time.

"Alrighty then." And with that I'm left stranded. Luckily he wasn't looking around for me. I'd rather announce my presence than have him watch me walk awkwardly to the table.
