I sat at the head of the conference table, my eyes focused on the presentation screen. My team was going over the final details of our big project. This venture was crucial for the company's future, and I wanted to ensure everything was perfect.
"Alright, let's move on to the budget projections," I said, glancing at the finance director. He began outlining the figures, and I nodded in approval, my mind processing every number.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I glanced at it briefly, noticing the name "My woman" flashing on the screen.
Let's see what tantrums she will throw this time.I am still learning how to handle her and her mood swings.
One moment she is quiet and ignorant and the next moment she would burst in so many emotions and fight with me.
"Excuse me for a moment," I said, standing up and walking towards the window. I answered the call, trying to keep my voice steady. "I'm in a meeting-"
"Can you tell your guards to stop following me everywhere?" Ananya's voice was laced with frustration.
"It's for your safety," I replied calmly, though I knew this wasn't the first time we'd had this conversation.
"I don't need them, damn it," she hissed, trying to keep her voice low.
"Sweetheart, if I recall correctly, the last time I told the guards to give you space, you ended up lost in the palace gardens for three hours. Alone. At night," I reminded her gently, hoping to diffuse her frustration. I could hear her bite her lower lip, a habit she had when she was recalling that night.
That night, she fought with me, saying she needed space and felt uncomfortable with the guards following her everywhere, even Luna. So, I told everyone to stay the hell away from her and give her some time.
But my woman got lost in the garden—not just any garden, but the one leading to the cell where some sinners are tortured every day. It was designed like a maze, and only Marco and Lucius had a map of the area.
My smart woman, in her quest for "space," wandered into that place. I cursed myself for letting her roam around alone.
She was stuck there for a freaking three hours, and the worst part was there weren't many CCTVs. After running around the garden for two hours looking for her, I finally saw her sitting beside a tree with her head hanging low.
The breath of relief I took at that moment was unforgettable.
I sighed, knowing this conversation wouldn't end here
She hung up on me,I was about to call her back but returned to the table, forcing my mind back to the project at hand. But a part of me stayed with her, wondering how to balance my duties and her safety without making her feel trapped.
