Two nights later...

It was 3 a.m., and Lavika was pacing the room, her arms crossed, her mind restless.

The events of the past few weeks played on a loop in her head. Sleep felt impossible.

Ishaan stirred awake and noticed her moving back and forth. "Lavika, why are you pacing? It's 3 a.m." he asked, his voice groggy but concerned.

She stopped, running her fingers through her hair. "Every time I close my eyes, I see his face. Sleep feels like a trap" she admitted, frustration and exhaustion clear in her tone.

Ishaan sat up, grabbed a blanket and a pillow, and walked to the couch. "Then I'll stay up with you. If sleep's not an option, we'll talk until the sun comes up."

She hesitated for a moment before sitting beside him.

He draped the blanket over both of them and gave her a small, reassuring smile.

To lighten the mood, Ishaan began talking about random things—stories from his school days, embarrassing moments, and funny incidents he thought she might enjoy.

Slowly, the tension in her shoulders eased.

By the time it was 5:30 a.m., Lavika had fallen asleep, her head resting on his shoulder.

Ishaan noticed and smiled softly, careful not to wake her as he adjusted the blanket around her.

"Sweet dreams, Lavika" he whispered, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.

He leaned back, keeping his arm lightly around her as he closed his eyes.

For the first time that night, both of them found a sense of calm.
