I have always been fascinated by abandoned places, full of history and forgotten secrets. I've had a few such expeditions under my belt, but this time I decided to go in search of an abandoned bunker I had heard about from a Germany. Finlandia helped me with this.
I met him a few months ago when we were exploring some European ruins together. At first, he seemed quite cold and reserved, but after a few shared adventures, I found out that he had a great sense of humor and could be really helpful when the situation required it.
It was a warm afternoon when we arrived at the site. The bunker stood in the heart of the forest, far from any roads. From the outside, it looked abandoned, destroyed by time and the elements.
-Do you think it's safe? - I asked, looking at the metal gate, which still seemed solid, despite being covered in rust.
-It depends on how you assess it, - replied Finland, smiling slightly. - But it will definitely be interesting.
We stepped inside. The darkness and the damp air filled the interior, and the sound of our footsteps echoed off the walls. I could hear water dripping somewhere in the background, and the whole space seemed full of forgotten stories.
-Wait, - Finland suddenly stopped. - Look, these might be some doors...
We approached the metal handle. I thought it was just another rusty part, but Finland grabbed the handle without hesitation and turned it. In an instant, I heard a loud thud as the door slammed shut behind us, and the darkness seemed to swallow everything around us.
-Wait! What...? - I started to speak, looking at him, confused.
-I thought it was just a rusty handle... - Finland looked at me with a surprised expression, but soon a shadow of unease appeared in his eyes. - It seems we're stuck.
I grimaced, feeling my heart race. We were locked in an enclosed bunker with no way out. I started to panic, but I tried not to show it on the outside. Finland turned on a flashlight, illuminating the interior a bit.
-Great... Thanks, - I replied, trying to stay calm. - What now?
-I don't know, - said Finland, his tone oddly calm, as if he was trying to convince both of us that everything would be fine. - Wait a moment, I'll check if there's anything we can do.
We started searching the bunker, checking every crack and old machine, but everything seemed just as hopeless. There was no exit. The air was getting more and more suffocating, and the feeling of claustrophobia was growing with every minute. Finland seemed more and more concerned.
