Adrian.
When two of my men told they had spotted Z, I didn't want to believe it. Why? I know she wouldn't just put herself out there without being cautious.
"Mario wanted to shoot her on the spot but I advised him not to." Raid explained and I glared holes into Mario's head. He looked down in fear.
"You were going to shoot your Donna?"
His eyes snapped back to mine at my statement. He began to spout apologies and I sighed and dismissed him. I turned back to Raid waiting for the full story.
"It's weird because it seemed she purposely wanted to be spotted. She was at a cafe." He said and I frowned. Cafe? Who was she meeting there?
"Did you see her meet someone?" I asked and he shook his head. "Not really. If she was I didn't notice that. I studied her though. She had her hands bandaged and wore a facemask."
I frowned again. Was she really the one he saw? "I knew you might begin to doubt but I can assure you she's the one. No one has bright white highlights like our Donna." He said confidently and I released a breath.
"Thank you Raid. You may go. Report back to me if you have any new information." He lowered his head in respect before leaving.
Angel had purposely put herself to be seen. I just wanted to know why? Was she trying to lure Mason to herself? Was she trying to get herself killed?
The thoughts kept rising in my head and I could feel a headache incoming. I let out a string of curse words and slammed my fists on the desk.
The door to my office was thrown open and Jace ran in. "Are you okay?!" He asked in concern and I just stared at him. Why was he suddenly here? Was this bastard eavesdropping?
"How much did you hear?"
He frowned feigning confusion. "Huh?"
I narrowed my eyes and slowly grabbed my gun. He backed away with a nervous smile. "I won't ask again." I said with a dangerous smile.
He threw his hands in the air as he rolled his eyes. "Okay fine!! I heard everything. Did he really see Zara?" He asked genuine concern in his eyes.
I dropped the gun and he came to sit in front of me. I explained my thesis to him and he totally agreed with me.
"I know Z to an extent that she'd want to take out the threat first. As long as he stands as someone after you, she'd want to kill him first." He said and I sighed. "I can take care of myself. All I want is for her to come back home to me." I grumbled and Jace smiled sadly.
"I wonder how she's doing. It must've been so lonely these past months." He said quietly. Knowing Z, she's going to be fine. She's basically been alone all her life. This isn't new to her and I hate that. She shouldn't be alone anymore.
She has me.
I grabbed my phone and sent out a text to Raid and a few select people to be on the lookout for Zara while the search for Mason is still on. "What will you do if you find her? Want if she doesn't want you looking for her?" Jace asked and I scoffed.
"Zara knows where to find me if she wants to." I said simply and he stared in shock. "Wait What? I'm so confused." I paid him no heed and focused back on the work on my desk.
"No no no! You're not gonna ignore me after making that statement. Are you two still in contact?" He asked. I shook my head.
"Then what did that mean?" He frowned. I looked at him. Is he just dumb or slow?
"You said so yourself. Zara is a trained assassin and the best in the world. You think finding me will be difficult for her? No but finding her will be because she knows how it works. Same goes with that bastard called Mason."
Jace paused to think.
"Come to think of it that's awfully true. What games are in play here? I just want all these to end to be honest." He said just as Jenna walked in my office. Without knocking.
"Adrian! You need to see this." She had a tablet in her hand as she dropped it on the desk for us to see. I leaned forward. I pressed play and Jace gasped at the scene that came into view.
It was Zara. She was dressed in a black leather top and matching pants. I could see the S.I tag on the clothes. Her hair was let down and her highlights were bright bringing a little light to her face in the dimly lit cargo house. And she was armed as well.
My eyes narrowed as I watched her fight off the men coming at her without any stress. I caught her eyes in the video and I sucked in a breath. Why'd that feel like she was watching me through the screen?
Like Raid reported earlier, she had a black face mask on and only her eyes could be seen. After pushing off one of the dead men aside she just stood in her spot.
The air in the office was tense as we watched and waited. "Is that it?" Jace asked and Jenna shook her head. "No babe. Look." She said and we refocused on the screen.
In nothing less that five split seconds we watched as Zara dodged a series of bullets at an unnatural speed. My eyes went wide in shock. She stayed unharmed. Once again her eyes came into view and she looked livid.
They were red. This time she looked straight at the camera filming the whole ordeal. She tilted her head slightly. I knew that gesture all too well. Then she lifted her arm and pulled the trigger. The screen went dark.
"Holy shit." Jace whispered. Jenna stared at me waiting for something. Anything but nothing was forthcoming. I was stunned. I've never seen Zara move like that before. And she looked different. So different.
The scary thing is she still felt familiar while looking like that.
"Where'd you get this?" I asked and Jenna showed that it was a live stream. Exactly three hours ago. That was right about when Raid said he saw her.
Oh Angel. Just what are you up to?
