Built on a lie (taekook)

silence.

that's what welcomed taehyung after he asked about jungkook.

utter silence from his parents.

a look of disbelief from jimin.

a shocked expression from namjoon.

"what?" he didn't understand why they reacted like that. isn't it rightful to ask for his boyfriend after he woke up from a month long coma?

"tae-" jimin started but was interrupted when dr. shin came back.

"we need to run tests to make sure mr kim is healing healthily, in the meantime you can wait outside"

taehyung sighed sadly, jungkook wasn't here yet. he wanted to wait for him, but he knew he can't go against his doctor's orders.

everyone said goodbye, hugging him lightly and they all went out.

the moment the doors closed, chaos erupted.

"what the fuck?" jimin whisper yelled as they walked away from the corridor, so taehyung wouldn't hear them talk.

"why would he ask for him?"

namjoon and the kim parents all shook their head, having no idea why taehyung would even mention that man.

"so which one of you is jungkook?" asked dr. shin suddenly but he was met with 4 flabbergasted eyes. "is there something wrong?"

"how do you-? what the fuck" jimin laughed with frustration, gripping his hair harshly.

"dr. shin, jungkook isn't here and to be honest, we are not sure why both you and taehyung are asking for him" namjoon said, trying his best to stay calm, but it wasn't his fault that the mere mention of that asshole pissed him off.

dr. shin frowned and looked at their confused expressions.

"mr kim has been asking for a certain jungkook since the moment he woke up"

jimin let out a pff and sat down on a chair, hitting his head against the wall.

"emm, dr shin, jungkook was taehyung's boyfriend but... they broke up like 2 years ago" mrs kim said sadly. she would never forget how hurt and lifeless taehyung was during that relationship. it took him months to gain his spark back.

"oh.. that's interesting" dr shin said, calculating in his head. "please come with me"

he led them to a secluded room and made them sit.

"mr kim suffered severe head trauma. his brain completely shut down and we could barely safe him. we haven't run all the tests yet, but if mr kim is asking for a boyfriend he broke up with years ago, then we must take memory-loss into consideration"

jimin shut his eyes tightly and the kims looked devastated.

"so you're saying that tae lost his memories of what? 2 years and his last one is dating jungkook?" namjoon asked carefully, not wanting to hear what he already knew was the truth.

"im afraid so" dr shin felt bad for the family, he knows news like this isn't what anyone would want to hear. 

well he was wrong about that. there was someone who would be happy to hear these news, said jimin in his head.

mrs kim rubbed her temples and let out a big breath.

"so what do we do?"

"mr kim is in a very fragile state right now, where any shocking information would threaten his health, or even his life. i can only suggest, but in the end, the choice is yours"

the family looked at each other, contemplating. they couldn't risk taehyung's life. but how would they explain jungkook's absense?

"what do you suggest doctor?" mr kim asked, devastated.

"i suggest you reach out to this jungkook, explain the situation to him and ask for his help. mr kim was asking frantically for him, i fear he is the only one who can help his anxiety"

jimin head bumped the table in front of him.

"dr shin... taehyung and jungkook ended on quite.. ehm bad terms. at least for taehyung"

dr shin hummed and thought deeply. he didn't want to build everything on a lie for taehyung's healing, but this was a special case.

"i am sorry, but im afraid my hands are tied here. i'll leave you to think about it. i'll run the tests on mr kim"

with that, he walked out of the room, leaving a heavy atmosphere behind.

the family sat in silence, no one daring to start speaking.

mrs kim suddenly sobbed and looked down.

"we can't. tae was miserable, i dont want to see him near that guy again" she cried onto her husband's shoulder, who rubbed her back comfortingly.

"auntie, i understand, god knows how much i do. but you heard the doctor. taehyung's life is at risk" jimin was furious at himself for even suggesting this, but the thought of taehyung being in an even worse state...

"we dont even know if he would agree" mr kim said with a nonchalant voice.

"oh please" jimin scoffed "taehyung lost his memories of how he treated him, is constantly asking for him and believes they are together. this is like the best day of his life"

everyone stayed silent after that. they knew jimin was right. jungkook wouldn't miss this chance for the world.

after they broke up, the ravenette didn't leave taehyung alone for months, he was doing everything to get the boy back. he only stopped after taehyung had a panic attack in front of him.

"so we're really doing this? lie straight into taehyung's eyes, allow jungkook back in his life? he'll be heartbroken when he gets his memories back" namjoon asked, still not sure whether this was a good idea.

mrs kim buried his face into her hands, completely stressed out.

"auntie, uncle... i think you should decide this" jimin said slowly, not wanting to make mrs kim feel even more pressured.

"jiminah, how are we supposed to?" mrs kim asked with pain "my poor baby was so so unhappy, and all the therapy he had to go through... i cant just throw it away"

"mom, you know how we all feel about him, but if this is the only way taehyung can be better, then..."

mrs kim huffed in resistance, and looked at her husband for support.

"what should we do?" she asked him, pleading for a solution.

"as much as it hurts me to say this... i dont think we a choice. if we shock taehyung with the fact that the person he is asking for treated him horribly and they are broken up... he is already in a weak mental state."

the kim parents looked into each others, a silent conversation going down between them.

mrs kim sighed, looked at jimin and said the words she knew she would regret later.

"call him"
