Grabbing the books on her desk, Yunalesca stuffed them into her leather bag. "Come on! Fit already!" She groans, pushing her clothes deeper into the bag to accommodate the extra luggage.
Hearing a bell ring, Yunalesca runs to the window. The sun had just risen, and ships were preparing to set sail. "No! Not yet, I'm not ready!" She yells, grabbing another thick leather book and stuffing it into the bag aswel. With her wet hair dripping everywhere, she fastens her blouse at her shoulder with a clasp and pulls on a pair of sandles. As she grabs her bag, she runs to the door. Glancing at her room one final time, Yunalesca bolts down the hall to the docks."Wait!" Sinbad heard Yunalesca call from the edge of the markets, her voice barely audible in the morning bustle.
Standing on the deck of his ship, Sinbad scanned the harbour for Yunalesca's signature lavender dress. She often wore similar ones when they were performing together, saying it was her favourite style and colour. "Was that Yunalesca?" Ja'far steps out from the hull, a scroll and quil in his hand. "Yeah. I can't seem to find her in the crowd, though... maybe I've been away for too long." Sinbad chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. "The journey to and from Imuchakk is a while." Hinahoho says, loading another crate onto the ship. "And you did have to go twice, so it's been over half a year since you saw her.""And we did miss her on her way out when we got back two weeks ago." Vittel adds, loading one final crate onto the ship. "Who knew she'd start performing in the capital." Rolling the scroll up, Ja'far walks over to Sinbad. "I'm just glad Yunalesca stayed behind to help with the paperwork. Otherwise, Miss Rurumu would be completely overwhelmed." Ja'far comments, skimming over the crowd. It was busier than usual, though that might be attributed to the newly arrived Imuchakk merchandise. "Trade really is booming, and Yuna's been a great help, I have to admit." Sinbad says with a nod, perusing the harbour. "Found her." Ja'far points to the edge of the crowd where a bunch of people were grouping together.
Following his finger, Sinbad sees Yunalesca. She wasn't wearing her usual clothes. Instead, she was dressed in a sleeveless asymmetrical top that wrapped diagonally across her torso and once around her middle. It was cinched at the shoulder with a golden clasp and tied at the waist with a white fabric belt, the excess fabric elegantly draping over her hip and shoulder. With it, she wore loose-fitting white trousers that gathered just below the knee, tucked beneath the fabric of her top.
Her sandals were simple, with thick straps over the toes and another around the ankle. Her hair thought was the biggest difference. Tied up in a half-ponytail, her hair cascaded down in wild waves, nearly reaching the small of her back. She had twin braids on one side of her head, but her bangs still fell short on the other side, framing her face."She looks so different." Was all Sinbad could say, his gaze fixed on the girl running toward him. Her bag swung violently as she weaved through the crowd, sidestepping people wanting her autograph or trying to invite her to some high-end party. "Looks like shes' built-up quite the reputation!" Hinahoho laughs, nudging Sinbads shoulder. "Yeah..." Sinbad responds half in a daze. He didn't recognise her at all. During their first year in Narpolia City, he and Yunalesca always performed together, and she'd always avoided the spotlight. Looking at her now, she'd changed completely. She was actively engaging with the people around her, smiling and laughing as she thread her way through the crowd.
"Sin!" He heard her call his nickname, her face lighting up the moment she saw him. Her hand shot up, and she waved at him, her bag a victim to the vigorous movements of her upper body.
"Effervescent as ever I see!" Ja'far calls from the ship, his own hand in the air. Sinbad watched Yunalescas smile grow wider when she saw Ja'far. She was practically beaming at that point. Finally reaching the plank that connected the ship with the pier, Yunalesca slowed to a walk, careful not to slip and fall into the sea. "It's been so long! How's everyone?" Yunalesca asks, her arms open. "We're doing pretty good. But you look so...different!" Ja'far chortles, speeding over to return Yunalesca's embrace. "I look different? Look at you! It's only been a year, and you're almost as tall as I am." Yunalesca laughs, hugging Ja'far tightly. Releasing each other, Yunalesca turns to Hinahoho, Vittel, and Mahad. "You three never seem to change whenever you come back from a voyage." She smiles, hugging each one in turn. Sinbad watched her greet everyone, her gleeful smile never leaving her face.Clearing his throat, Sinbad steps closer. "I hope you haven't forgotten me. It would pain me to know such a beauty had no interest in me." Sinbad says, a cheeky grin hiding behind his suave words. When Yunalesca turned to face him, he could see her bright hazel eyes clearly. "She hasn't changed one bit." He smiled to himself as he opened his arms. Yunalesca practically jumped into them as she hugged him, her face buried in the crook of his neck. Closing his arms around her, he hugged her back, a familiar feeling tugging at his heart.
After a few moments, Yunalesca pulled away. "I've missed you guys so much." Her voice trembled as she turned to look at everyone. "Don't think we haven't missed you. Your presence is a welcome one after spending months with only men for company." Sinbad says, taking Yunalesca's hand and brushing a soft kiss across her knuckles. Pulling her hand away, she chuckles. "Save those words for the brothels, Sin." Though Sinbad knew she didn't intend it, her words stung.
Stepping away from him, Yunalesca joined the others. "So where are we heading now?" She asks, her hands on her hips. Her playful smile, illuminated by the stray strands of dawn. "Sasan. We want to start trading with them." Ja'far answers her enthusiasticly, opening his scroll again. Looking through the contents of the scroll, Yunalesca nods. "Hold on, Yunalesca. What do you mean we?" Hinahoho asks, taking the scroll from her hands. "I'm coming with you, obviously." She said matter-of-factly, her face completely neutral. "Huh? But what about Rurumu...and...and the shop? Or..or your performances?" Hinahoho rummaged through his words, worry plastered on his face. Placing a calming hand on his arm, Yunalesca gave Hinahoho a reasuring smile. "I already asked Miss Rurumu about it, and she said she'd be fine. And the performances can wait. I've actually had enough of that scene!" Yunalesca laughed as she pulled a book out of her bag. "I've actually been tinkering with medicine while you guys were away."
"But still..." Hinahoho trailed off, his frown deepening. "If it means anything..." Vittel raises his hand, pulling everyone's attention onto him. "Mahad and I were already planning on staying here in Narpolia to help Miss Rurumu. We could take over Miss Yunalescas work?" Taking a moment to consider what Vittel said, Sinbad crosses his arms. "Are you sure?" He asks, raising one eyebrow. Looking at each other, both Vittel and Mahad nod in response. "Then it's settled! Vittel and Mahad will stay in Narpolia, and Yunalesca will join us."
"But Sinbad!" Hinahoho began his protest but was left gaping as everyone continued to prepare for departure.
