I finally finish off my eyeliner, making sure to not mess it up after all the time I've spent on it. You would think for an artist that I could apply something like eyeliner on my face relatively easily, but I seriously can't. I take a look at myself in the mirror, satisfied with my makeup. Dark brown eyeshadow and winged eyeliner, with some on my waterline; minimal blush dusted across my cheeks and a small amount of foundation. I'm not used to doing make up, but I think I did a pretty good job. I fumble around my tiny makeup bag for a tube of red lip gloss, unscrewing its cuboid lid and spreading it gently across my lips. It smells sweet, like vanilla, and has a nice, smooth texture. It's one of my favourite lip glosses, and I think I look pretty cute in it.
I take a step back from the bathroom mirror and take myself in, ruffling the back and underside of my hair. I look pretty good. I don't really dress up, but I'm going out and sometimes it's nice feeling and looking pretty. Does this count as a date? I'm pretty sure it does. Oh well, I think we're gonna have a good time. I can definitely sense that Matt's gonna try and interfere, but I'll do my best to try and stop them. We're just gonna go out for drinks, have a nice time and then go back home.

I quickly take my phone out of my purse as I get out of the taxi, glancing at the time on the screen. Damn, I'm a bit late. Hopefully Morgan won't mind, right? Matt's probably found her, chatting to her and telling her all my embarrassing secrets, as they do to any new person I meet. My secrets aren't even that bad, they're just pathetic. I hope Matt spares me tonight and tells her some of the least embarrassing ones.
Matt's workplace is nicer than the club me and Morgan met in- it's clean, better lit and overall less intense. It doesn't smell as sweaty and the smell of vodka and gin is replaced with sweet whiskey. The walls are painted a simple dark orange, uniform wooden tables filling up the majority of the room. The bar sits at the back of the building, bathed in golden lights and covered with bar mats. I spot Matt behind the counter, leaning on the counter top in their uniform and apron, chatting to, you guessed it, Morgan. They suspiciously look around, smirking as they hide their mouth with their hand and say something to her. She then cracks up laughing, covering her mouth with her hand, shoulders shaking with gentle laughter. I quickly storm over to them, slamming a joking hand onto the table and making both of them jump.
"Matt, what have you been telling her?" I demand, looking between them and Morgan. Morgan stifles a laugh.
"I 'aven't said owt! I dunno what yer on about." they say slyly, glancing to Morgan and circling their finger at the side of their head. I scowl at them and turn to Morgan, who's still trying to not laugh.
"What did they say to you?" I ask, crossing my arms and shifting my weight to my right leg.
"Oh, nothing, darling! Okay, maybe one thing- is it true that you got plastered off cider and started singing 'All I want for Christmas is You' out of your apartment window in the summer?" she starts laughing again, Matt joining in with her. My face turns red, both with embarrassment and anger, but mostly embarrassment.
"Matt! Seriously?!" I exclaim, turning to them with a furious expression. They give me a sly smirk, leaning their head on the hand, painted nails concealed by their curled up fingers.
"What, mad that it's true?" they say smugly. I'm somewhat relieved, it's not the worst thing they could've said. I sigh in relief internally.
"Whatever! Anyways, how are you Morgan?" I say, purposely hiding Matt's face with my hand and turning to Morgan, giving her a very small smile . I haven't been able to get a proper look at her since I was too busy talking to Matt, but now I can. And God, she's just as pretty as she was when we met: Sleek hair tied into low pigtails, tight dress hugging her tight, makeup applied perfectly. Fuck, she's gorgeous.
