1067 words."Airy, you like music, right?" Airy perked up from Fan's voice, dropping the twigs and sticks she held into the growing fire in front of her, then looked around, spotting Fan running towards her, MePhone in hand. "Oh... Yeah," Airy silently answered, resting her paws on herself, staring down at the Chinese hand fan blankly as he stopped in front of her, panting and gasping for air. Fan almost instantly straightened himself up after a moment, adjusting his thick, square glasses before tapping away at his brightly lit MePhone — the only other light source out in the woods of Airy's cabin's backyard, other than the flames beside them, and herself. Fan yelped out to the taller object, "I found a few songs I wanna show you!! They're personal favourites of mine, of course, haha..." he chuckled to himself, before shoving the phone in Airy's face, making her squint a bit, before seeing a picture of some sort of piñata-esque fox-like creature.
"Where's... the music. That's just a drawing..." She mumbled, tilting her head to the side as her ruined cord tail flicked at her side. "Oh! I haven't pressed play, yet. I kinda wanted to sit down somewhere before we did..." Airy promptly walked away and sat on a log opposite of Fan & the fireplace; the only log the two had to sit on outside. She patted the spot next to her, and Fan quickly hopped over to it, plopping himself down on the log, scooting closer to the taller object. "Ready?" He inquired, grinning widely at the lamp as she fidgeted with her fingers. "Yeah," Airy softly replied, gifting Fan a small smile back as the shorter object's grin only grew larger from her answer, his string tail wagging wildly.
The paper fan clicked a few buttons on the device in his hand, assumably turning up the volume of the machine, before pressing the play button on the video, a loud voice emitting from the speakers of the small item in Fan's hands. "Oh...!" Airy let out a startled gasp, not expecting the song to be so loud, and began chewing on her finger from the noise. Fan half-noticed what she was doing, and wrapped his arm around the tall lamp, letting the video continue to play. Suddenly, the song actually started, and it was somehow even louder than before, making Airy jump and bite her finger so hard she drew blood.
"Oh, gosh, are you ok??" Fan panicked after finally fully noticing what had happened and what was currently happening, swiftly pausing the video as Airy went to cover the sides of her glass head, squeezing her eyes shut. Fan placed his phone on the ground, making sure that he shut it off so the video wouldn't start playing randomly, and went to try and help Airy with her issue. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize that it'd be too loud for you..." he'd attempt to whisper at the taller, making her calm down ever so slightly to the point of removing her hands from her head, instead balling them up on her knees as Fan carefully rubbed her shoulder as some form of comfort. Airy subconsciously leaned into the touch, taking a breath before opening her eyes and sitting up, muttering a tiny, "sorry."
"You don't have to be sorry!! Here, uh, do you want to listen to a quieter song? You'd probably like this one more..." Fan would ramble, grabbing his MePhone from the grass and looking over at Airy for an answer. The tall lamp gave a small nod, just barely rocking back and forth on the log as she waited. "Ok, uh, do you want me to turn the volume down? Actually—I'll do that, anyway..." Fan clicked more buttons on his device as Airy loomed over him, her hand moving to grasp his arm, squeezing it a bit, a bit worried that the next song would still be just as loud. On the screen of Fan's phone, there was a photo of another animal, an anthropomorphic white rat, playing some sort of gaming console, Airy guessed.
"Are you ready..." Fan hesitated, "again?" Fan awkwardly inquired the girl, finger just over the play button. Airy gave the Chinese hand fan another minuscule nod, just barely noticed by the boy, before he gave her a nod back, pressing the screen of his square machine before it started playing music, this time way quieter. The small area around the two was soon filled by the musical beeps and drums that left the phone's speakers, making Fan's tail wag again, almost interrupting the song. Airy smiled a small smile again, leaning closer to Fan in an attempt to hear the song more, almost squishing the shorter object. To say that the taller object liked the song was almost an understatement, it was very comforting to her, especially after the previous song that had played.
Soon enough, the song sadly ended, and Fan eventually turned off his phone, peeking over at Airy with a grin. "Did you like that one?" He'd excitedly ask, tail continuing to wag even after the song had ended. "Mhm," Airy slowly and genuinely responded, "It was... nice," Fan smiled more at the answer, practically shaking in place from joy, the only thing stopping him from screaming out with joy was Airy, since he didn't want to hurt her ears any more than he had today. "I should get you to listen to more later, then!!!" He eagerly exclaimed, standing up from his seat with a happy jump, before bouncing in place. "Yeah..." Airy mumbled, before getting up as well, staring down at the now dying flames of her homemade fireplace, the dying flame that Fan was currently running around with joy.
Later, once the fire had fully died out, Fan would leave Airy's home with a, "I should probably go back to my own house, since it's, y'know, late and all... see you tomorrow!!" Airy would say her farewells to the small Chinese hand fan as well, before walking towards her own little home, her old, self-built cabin. She opened the door, stepped in, and closed it behind her, before quietly walking to the messy bed and tucking herself in, the only noises heard being the wind and leaves outside, and the song Fan had played for her looping inside her head. She really liked that song.
