However, Sophia herself is likely unstable in her allegiance. Her game with me the other day seemed to affirm that fact. She can't do so directly or maybe she was avoiding doing so out of uncertainty or fear, but by letting us know of the person behind her who potentially wants to use Rimuru for their own gain she was essentially asking for our help.
And even aside from all that the most recent thing on my mind, Rimuru's offer to Aiz to bring her down to the lower flowers of the dungeon.
Why offer such a thing? Why to Aiz specifically?
For what purpose? Was it a whim? Or a calculation?
A part of a plan or merely a passing thought she gave voice to.
When it came to Rimuru...the latter seemed more likely based on everything I knew.
And licking my thumb produced none of the throbbing that normally accompanied my weariness in dangerous situations. In a sense Rimuru's ability to circumvent these adventurer instincts was inherently absurd.
A monster like Rimuru, her mere existence was a worry. Despite not being a clear enemy and doing several things to avoid suspicion from us, the very fact that something like her existed was concerning. Because whether I liked it or not, one of Rimuru's whims could change everything in regards to this dungeon city.
Her existence and absurdity were just that potent.
I combed my fingers through my short blond hair as I continued to ruminate on it all. As I did so, the door to my office opened and Aiz along with Lefiya had finally arrived.
"Ah, good morning," I offered a calm smile at the two as they returned the greeting.
"Good morning," Aiz gave a curt nod.
"Please Aiz, take a seat, thank you for getting her Lefiya," I say and Lefiya gives a short bow before leaving.
Aiz slowly walked over to a couch in the center of the room while I continued to sit behind my desk for a moment longer, filling through thoughts for a moment.
The stoic blonde swordswoman sat silently watching me with her distant golden eyes.
I silently finished organizing my thoughts before opening my mouth to speak, "About Rimuru's offer...What do you think about it?" I asked her opinion.
Her brows furrowed into a thoughtful expression. "I...I'm not sure how to feel about it. But I do want to see what's down there." she said resolutely. "If it's an opportunity to get stronger...I'm willing to take it."
I closed one eye as I stared at her, "I see." I nodded. "In that case I'll allow it." a small smile came over my face, "Just try not to push yourself too hard."
She nodded, "Thank you." A small smile came over her face briefly.
Along with a good opportunity to strengthen one of our members, keeping an eye on Rimuru while she was in the dungeon may be a good idea.
"I've told Riveria and Gareth about this already, and when you find the time you can go ahead and inform Rimuru about your decision."
"Alright," She spoke smoothly.
"However soon we'll be making moves against the Evilus, once we figure out where their hideout is, that's our priority, do you understand?"
She nodded.
"That's all then."
"Very well, see you captain," she stood up and left the room. I turned toward the window and allowed myself to fall deep into thought once more.
