Iris awoke to her aunt; Petunia rapping the door quite aggressively yelling through the crack in the cupboard door, "Up! Get up!". Iris turned over in the little space to gaze at her brother, he too had awoken to the banging on the door, he was groaning slightly, his eyes still closed. Iris gazed at her brother, he had raven-colored hair and an odd lightning shaped scar on his forehead, and his characteristic bright emerald green eyes. She too had emerald green eyes but they were more turquoise.

Iris herself had an odd scar, but instead of it being on her forehead like her brother it was on her wrist, and it looked like a, "piece of spaghetti" as Harry called it. But to Iris it resembled a snake; snakes weren't her favorite animal but they were definitely on her top 5.

Petunia rapped her fist against the cupboard again, "Are you up yet?"

"Nearly." Harry replied, only now deciding to go look for some socks and his glasses.

Iris rolled her eyes and grinned at her brother, who- as far as Iris could tell from the crack of light filtering in- was grinning back at her. Iris being closest to the door got up as much as she could and tugged the door open and shuffled out.

She stood completely and stretched her arms and legs out, in doing so she saw her brother crawl out of the cupboard. Iris might hate her aunt, uncle and cousin, but at least she had the best brother she could ask for to be with her through life.

"I forgot it was Dudley's birthday today." Harry greeted Iris with, stretching open his mouth with a yawn.

"I didn't," Iris responded with. How could she forget? Dudley's birthday was engraved into her mind, mostly with memories of him verbally abusing her and Harry.

When Harry and Iris got into the kitchen Petunia began shouting orders at them."Harry, you go take over the eggs, Iris you take over the bacon- Don't you dare let the bacon burn, I want everything to be perfect for Duddy's birthday." She added in a threatening tone.

Iris walked over to the stove where there was some bacon already being cooked, while Harry had gone over to the fridge to grab some eggs. Iris turned her gaze to the mountain of presents Dudley had on the table- there was a new computer, another television set, and a-

"Did you see Dudley got a racing bike?" Harry asked Iris from the pan next to her, snickering with amusement of why he even wanted one- some people found it weird but Harry and Iris had an odd connection where they could sometimes read each-other's thoughts.

"Yeah," she replied with a grin, looking away from the presents and toward her brother, their emerald green eyes meeting one another. She felt such an affection toward her brother, how he took the blame for something that Iris herself had done, and taking most of the beatings from their uncle and aunt, and sometimes Dudley.

Iris heard the kitchen door open and Vernon -her uncle- walked through. Not long after her uncle walked through the door Dudley walked through the door himself, Iris found herself noticing how much Dudley looked like Vernon.

Iris- her gaze still on Dudley noticed him counting his presents, her and Harry had finished the eggs and bacon so they put them on plates and walked over to the present over-run table.

Iris glanced back up at Dudley who's face had fallen while counting his presents. "36." He said, looking back up at his parents. "36? That's two less than last year." Iris' eyebrow perked up, she turned her head over to look at her brother, she knew they were thinking along the same lines- a Dudley tantrum was going to begin, this almost always happened when he wanted something.

Her aunt was trying to convince Dudley that he counted wrong- which Iris knew was probably true- and telling him that some presents were bigger than last year, and that he'd missed one.
