Frisk had an idea in her mind. One that she believed could finally get Chara to believe that she truly, TRULY wanted to change. Only problem was... the execution. You know, the most important part?
She sat quietly at the wooden sentry post at the outskirts of Snowdin town, just outside the ruins, watching the view of monsters in the distance packing up their valuables and closing up their houses as they prepared to ascend up to the surface. A temporary camp had been made right above the underground. Monsters would gather up until either they or the humans reached out and negotiations started.
Both elbows perched up on the counter, chin rested on her palms, Frisk let out a tired sigh.
She'd thought about it for so long but nothing of meaning popped in her mind. She really wanted her plan to work... but how...
"somethin' on your mind, bud?" Sans said, winking at her, a plate in hand with two hotdogs on it. Frisk was a little startled at first, given how Sans had magically appeared behind her. Almost immediately though, she relaxed, letting out another sigh as she turned to him.
"No, not really. Just... stressing over what's to come. You know? Being ambassador 'n all." She let out a small laugh. Her eyes fell over the hotdogs, "Thanks for the lunch, I suppose."
"no probs, buddo." He set the plate on the counter. "and don't worry about it. you'll do great."
"Thanks Sans." Frisk beamed at him. Despite everything, Sans was being incredibly supportive. He may not have remembered what she did in the past timelines... but he was still aware of it all. But it didn't matter. He didn't guilt her over it or press her about it. He still treated her like a friend despite it all.
"but seriously kid, you alright? you sure this is just about work? or... somethin' else?" His tone lowered an octave, he was being gentle but firm in pushing her to open up.
Frisk blinked once, caught slightly off guard.
"Uh, of course. What makes you think otherwise?"
"nothin'. just that expression on your face." He narrowed his eye sockets."you look like you've been thinking about something you wanna do but don't know how. like you know whatcha want, but don't know how to get it."
Shit. Of course he knew something was up. It IS Sans afterall. And Chara wasn't making it easy either.
"He's onto you." Chara's ghostly form whispered, a hint of teasing in her voice. "I wonder... What were you thinking about?"
"It's nothing, Sans." Frisk managed to utter, shrugging off Chara's poking.
"uh-huh, sure. you're daydreaming about 'nothing'" Sans' eye light rolled inside his eye sockets, his smile unchanged. "but hey, if you're gonna think about 'nothing', might as well do it on a filled stomach, yeah?" He slid the plate a little closer to Frisk in an offering.
Frisk exhaled in defeat, picked up a hotdog, shoved half of it in her mouth and decided to forget basic etiquette and talk with food in her mouth.
"I'm fine, Sh-ans... Ish nofing. Don'n worry abou(t) it" Her speech being slurred by the dry bun she chewed on. She swallowed and brought the remaining portion of the hotdog to her mouth.
"a bit... inappropriate way to eat that, don'tcha think?"
"Huh?"He wasn't talking about her speaking with food in her mouth. Her eyes darted to the hotdog she held in hand, portion of it in her mouth.
Oh.
Her facial expression scrunched into a frown, she clicked her tongue.
"Oh shut up, you!" She said as she playfully shoved his shoulder. But she couldn't stop a smile from forming.
