The walls felt like they were closing in as Sienna paced the length of Dante’s office, her thoughts tangled in chaos.
Ethan had set Dante up.
Ethan had tried to kill him.
It didn’t make sense.
No matter how many times she replayed the footage in her mind, she couldn’t reconcile the Ethan she had known—the man who had once whispered about forever—with the one who had orchestrated an attack.
Dante sat behind his desk, elbows resting on the surface, fingers steepled together. He hadn’t spoken much since Enzo left to track Ethan down.
He was waiting.
Planning.
Hunting.
Sienna stopped pacing. “I need to see him.”
Dante’s gaze snapped to her, his expression dark. “No.”
Her jaw clenched. “You don’t get to decide that.”
His voice dropped. “The hell I don’t.”
Sienna took a step closer, fire in her veins. “I need to know why, Dante. I need to hear it from him.”
Dante pushed out of his chair in one fluid motion, coming to stand in front of her. His presence was overwhelming—towering, commanding—but she didn’t back down.
His fingers curled under her chin, tilting her face up. “He’s not the man you remember, dolcezza.”
Her throat tightened. “Then let me see that for myself.”
Dante’s jaw tensed. “And if you don’t like what you find?”
Sienna swallowed hard. “Then I’ll deal with it.”
A muscle ticked in his jaw.
She could see the battle warring inside him.
Dante wasn’t just angry.
He was furious that Ethan had done this—had dared to touch his world, his woman, his life.
And yet, there was something else in his eyes.
Something that looked a lot like… fear.
Not fear for himself.
Fear for her.
Before he could argue, Enzo stormed in. “We found him.”
Sienna’s stomach clenched.
Dante straightened, his entire demeanor shifting into something lethal. “Where?”
Enzo’s expression was tight. “He’s at an old warehouse near the docks. We cornered him.”
Dante grabbed his jacket, already moving. “Let’s go.”
Sienna took a deep breath. “I’m coming with you.”
Dante didn’t look at her. “No, you’re not.”
She stepped in front of him, forcing him to meet her gaze. “I am.”
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Dante exhaled sharply, rubbing a hand over his jaw. “You stay close to me. You don’t speak unless I say so. And if I tell you to leave, you leave.”
Sienna nodded. “Deal.”
Dante didn’t look convinced.
But he didn’t stop her, either.
Which meant one thing.
They were going to confront Ethan.
And after tonight…
Nothing would ever be the same.
