Y/n clenched her fists under the table, forcing herself to keep a neutral expression. This was exactly what Maria wanted—to get under her skin, to make her jealous.
But it was working.
Héctor wasn't stopping Maria. He wasn't pushing her away. He was just letting it happen.
Zoë leaned in, whispering so only Y/n could hear. "If you want to leave, just say the word."
Y/n took a slow breath. No. She wasn't going to give Maria the satisfaction of seeing her break.
Instead, she plastered a smirk on her face and turned to Pau, who was sitting beside her. "So, Pau, tell me—how many girls have fallen for your charm this week?"
Pau laughed, playing along. "Too many to count, obviously."
Lamine snorted. "More like zero."
The table erupted in laughter, and Y/n felt a small relief. At least she wasn't sitting there, silently suffering.
But when she glanced at Héctor, she found him already staring at her. His jaw was clenched, his eyes unreadable.
Maria, noticing this, leaned in even closer to him. "Héctor, you good?" she asked sweetly, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Y/n felt something snap inside her.
She stood up abruptly, making everyone look at her. "I need some air," she mumbled before walking out of the lounge.
The cold night air hit her face as she stepped outside, but it wasn't enough to cool the storm raging inside her.
A few minutes passed before she heard footsteps behind her.
"Y/n."
She didn't have to turn around to know who it was.
Héctor.
