Nicholas and Euijoo had spent their lunch break goofing off with their friends. The bell rang, signaling the start of their afternoon class, english.
The pair walked in just as the bell rang, catching the attention of all the classmates who walked in before them.
"Oh our very own Romeo and Juliet! Pleasure for you to join us today." Their teacher spoke will a clear hint of sarcasm in his voice, pointing at their empty seats.
Euijoo let out a laugh while Nicholas groaned. A few chuckles from their classmates filled the air as they sat down. "Would you two like to play our major roles today? Hm?" Their teacher said, looking directly at the duo.
"Okay okay, we get it. We'll be quiet this time." Nicholas said leaning back into his chair, earning a few more snickers from their peers around them. "Right. Remember those words Nicholas." Their teacher spoke as he passed out the students packets.
Not even 20 minutes had passed as their class was reading their roles aloud, Nicholas and Euijoo were heard snickering from the back of the classroom and kicking each others feet underneath their tables.
"bro shut up he's gonna make us read outLOUDD!" Nicholas spoke as he bickered with Euijoo, to which Euijoo pinched him in the thigh, making it their actions obvious to the whole class. The classroom filled with chuckles and side conversations as the teacher walked over to their desks.
"Alright. Read." The teacher dropped a paper will the lines of Juliet on Nicholas's desk and the lines of Romeo on Euijoos.
"This is your fault." Nicholas deadpanned at Euijoo while Euijoo simply let out a lighthearted chuckle.
"Why don't I hear Romeo speaking." The teacher said, sounding more like a command rather than a question. The class filled with laughter one last time as the duo began to read aloud their lines.
The school day ended, and Nicholas and Euijoo made their way home together. As usual, Nicholas was yawning, looking like he could fall asleep on the spot. Euijoo shook his head in amusement.
"Tired already?" Euijoo teased as they reached Nicholas's front door.
"Don't even start. I'm still mad at you Romeo." Nicholas rolled his eyes and let out a small chuckle as he opened the door and stepped inside, heading straight for his bedroom. Euijoo followed, chuckling softly.
In Nicholas's room, Euijoo got comfortable on the bed, pulling out his laptop while Nicholas changed. When Nicholas came back, he was in loose plaid pajama pants and a black tee, his hair still slightly damp from his post-practice shower. Euijoo had changed into baggy gray sweatpants and a navy blue hoodie, pulling the sleeves over his hands as laid on his side of the bed and got to work.
Nicholas barely lasted five minutes before knocking out.
At first, he was just lying on his side, facing away from Euijoo. But at some point, he must've shifted, because when Euijoo glanced up from his laptop, Nicholas was curled into his side, his head resting lightly against Euijoo's arm.
Euijoo sighed. "Seriously?"
Nicholas didn't respond. Obviously.
Euijoo adjusted slightly, making it easier for Nicholas to lean against him, and went back to work.
It wasn't until later that Nicholas's mom poked her head in. When she saw them, she laughed quietly.
"Out cold again?" she asked in amusement.
Euijoo looked up from his laptop, smiling slightly. "He fell asleep like, two minutes after we got back."
She shook her head. "He always sleeps best when you're around."
Euijoo felt a weird warmth at that but just shrugged. "Guess I'm a good pillow."
She chuckled. "Well, good luck moving him."
With that, she left, and Euijoo glanced down at Nicholas, still completely knocked out against him.
Yeah. There was no way he was moving anytime soon.
By the time Nicholas woke up, the sun was setting, though you couldn't tell from inside the dark room. He stretched with a groggy hum, blinking blearily up at Euijoo, who was still sitting there with his laptop.
"You stayed?" Nicholas mumbled, voice thick with sleep.
Euijoo raised an eyebrow. "Where else would I go?"
Nicholas didn't answer, just rubbed his eyes and yawned again. Then, without thinking, he flopped back against Euijoo's side, eyes already closing again.
Euijoo groaned. "No way, you just woke up."
Nicholas just hummed. "Five more minutes."
"You said that last time."
Nicholas didn't move.
With an exasperated sigh, Euijoo finally nudged him. "Come on, let's go eat."
Nicholas made a disgruntled noise but slowly sat up. They headed downstairs, where Nicholas's mom greeted them with a knowing smile, clearly having expected them to stay up there forever.
"Sleep well?" she asked Nicholas.
Nicholas just yawned in response.
Euijoo smirked. "He's barely awake now."
Nicholas's mom laughed, setting down plates for them. "No surprise there."
As they started eating, Nicholas leaned against the table, still waking up. Euijoo just rolled his eyes, nudging him with his foot under the table.
"Don't fall asleep on your food."
Nicholas smirked. "No promises."
Euijoo sighed.
This was his life.
And honestly? He didn't mind it.
