For the first time, B-127 hesitated. The easy confidence he always carried flickered, and for a brief moment, he looked as if he had been transported back to those days. The days before the war, before lines had been drawn and friends had become enemies. But then, just as quickly, he shook it off.
"That was different," he said, his voice quieter now. "Back then, things weren't as bad as they are now. The surface of Cybertron isn't just dangerous—it's lethal. Quintessons, Decepticons, rogue scavengers... not to mention all the hazards left behind from the war. It's not a place for a teenage fembot, and it's definitely not a place for you."
Altair's shoulders slumped. She had expected B-127 to be hesitant, but she hadn't expected him to completely shut her down. "But I just want to see it," she muttered, glancing down at the deactivated holopad. "Just once."
B-127 softened, stepping forward and placing a hand on her shoulder. "Look, kid, I get it. You've got that Prime spark—you want to explore, to do something bigger. But trust me when I say this: the outside world isn't some grand adventure. It's a battlefield, even now. And I made a promise—to your dad and to your mom—that I'd keep you safe."
Altair Comet huffed but didn't argue further. She knew that once B-127 set his mind to something, there was little hope of changing it. Still, the longing in her spark didn't fade. If anything, it only grew stronger. One day, she promised herself, she would see the surface of Cybertron. No matter what it took.

Later that night, Altair Comet put her plan into motion. She had spent the entire evening listening to B-127 lecture her about responsibility, safety, and the dangers of the outside world. But she wasn't going to let that stop her. If the surface of Cybertron was as dangerous as they claimed, then she wanted to see it for herself.
With careful precision, she mixed a strong dose of sleeping medicine into a cup of Energon before handing it to B-127, flashing her most innocent smile.
"Here, B. I figured you could use a recharge after all the effort you put into making sure I never get to do anything fun," she teased.
B-127 chuckled and took the cup without hesitation. "You know me, kid. Always on guard, always ready. I don't need rest, but, hey, if you're offering, I won't say no!"
He gulped it down in seconds. Altair had to bite back a smirk. Perfect.
An hour later, B-127 was out cold, sprawled across the couch, murmuring nonsense in his sleep.
"No, I got this, Optimus... No need to call Ultra Magnus... I can take on Megatron myself..."
Altair rolled her optics. "Sure you can, B," she muttered under her breath.
Now was her chance. Moving swiftly and silently, she slipped out of the house, careful not to trigger any of the security sensors. As soon as she reached the streets, she transformed into her Cybertronian truck mode, her tires humming against the metallic roads as she sped toward the train station.
The cityscape of Iacon blurred past her as she drove, her spark pounding in excitement. She was finally doing it. She was going to see Cybertron beyond the city walls.
When she arrived at the train yard, Altair quickly scanned for an entry point. She found a cargo train bound for the surface and, without hesitation, snuck aboard, hiding behind a stack of shipping containers just as the train roared to life. As it departed, she watched through a small opening as the towering skyscrapers of Iacon faded into the distance, replaced by unfamiliar terrain.
For the first time in her life, she was leaving home.
