Kyung-jun felt the weight of that single word settle deep inside him, hollowing him out from the inside. Nothing.

She had said it so simply, so effortlessly, like his existence—his regret, his desperation—meant absolutely nothing to her anymore.

For the first time in a long while, he didn't know what to say.

Minji turned her gaze back to the floor, her fingers gripping the sheets as if she were holding herself together. The distance between them had never felt so suffocating, even though they were sitting just feet apart.

"Is that really how you feel?" His voice was quieter now, almost fragile.

Minji let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head. "Does it matter?"

"It does to me," he admitted, his throat tightening. "It always has."

She scoffed, finally looking at him again, and this time, there was something sharp in her eyes—something broken. "Really? Since when, Kyung-jun? Since after you ruined everything? Since after you shattered every part of me?"

He flinched. He deserved that. Every word.

"You think I don't remember what it felt like?" Minji's voice wavered, but she didn't stop. "Do you know how many nights I spent blaming myself, wondering what I did wrong? How many times I had to remind myself that it wasn't my fault, that you were the one who walked away first?"

Kyung-jun clenched his fists. "Minji—"

"You don't get to act like you care now," she cut him off, her voice cracking. "You don't get to sit there and ask me if I still feel anything when you were the one who threw it all away."

She was crying now, but she refused to let him see it. She turned her head to the side, wiping her tears with the sleeve of her jacket, trying so desperately to keep it together.

And Kyung-jun hated himself even more.

Because she was right.

He had ruined everything.

He wanted to tell her that he had never stopped caring, that leaving her had been the hardest thing he had ever done. That he had spent every single day regretting it, thinking about her, aching for her.

But none of that mattered now, did it?

Not when Minji had already convinced herself that he was nothing more than a mistake she should have never made.

The silence between them stretched, heavy and unbearable.

Kyung-jun swallowed the lump in his throat and forced himself to speak, even though he already knew the answer.

"Do you hate me?" His voice was barely above a whisper.

Minji let out a shaky breath, closing her eyes for a moment as if she was trying to find the right words.
