EPISODE FOUR. BELOW ME
Two days had passed since Gamin had last seen Baek Sooji.
For once, she could finally walk through the hallways of the school without feeling the overwhelming presence of that idiot breathing down her neck.
No interruptions, no ridiculous invitations to his pointless study group, no annoyingly persistent footsteps tailing her whenever she turned a corner.
It was about time.
Sooji wasn't oblivious to her own reputation. She knew how people saw her—the way they avoided meeting her gaze, the way they went silent whenever she walked into a room, the way they whispered behind her back but never to her face.
It didn't bother her. If anything, she preferred it.
Fear was better than fake smiles.
And yet, Gamin had been the one exception. The only fool who seemed completely unaffected by the suffocating presence she carried.
The only one who kept trying to bother her, despite making it clear she wanted nothing to do with him.
But now, after two days of blissful silence, it seemed he had finally gotten the message.
Good.
With the school day finally over, Sooji paid little attention to her surroundings as she descended the hill leading away from campus.
The sun hung lower in the sky, casting an orange glow over the pavement. A breeze fluttered through her hair, rustling the pages of her book as she walked, her focus locked on the words in front of her.
Her fingers lightly turned the page as she continued walking, her pace steady, her mind drifting deeper into the world of ink and paper.
And then—
"Be careful."
A voice, lighthearted yet familiar, rang out.
Sooji's steps faltered for only a fraction of a second. She already knew who it was before even looking up.
