She couldn't let this happen again, so she made the boy a promise. "I will take you to a safe place for people like us."
-----------------------------------------
Jimin followed Sophia, and together they walked along a small forest path. Sophia had promised to take Jimin to a place where he was safe from the AMS; she had also told him that this place was far away, so they would have to get a car in the nearest town.
The nearest city is called Miryang; it's a small town near Gimhae and their destination was near Seoul, which means they have to cross half of Korea. But Jimin decided to accept the help Sophia was offering because she seemed nice enough, and without help, he would probably end up back in a laboratory of the AMS.
Sophia tried for the most part of their long walk towards Miryang to strike a conversation with Jimin, but sometimes their conversation died down, and they walked in silence, which was very welcomed by Jimin as he was not used to talking, especially not for this long.
After nearly one and a half hours of walking, they reached the end of the forest, and many houses revealed themselves as well as a beautiful river, which seemed to go through the whole city of Miryang. Jimin was in awe at the beautiful town, in front of him, but he quickly acted normal once again when he noticed Sophia smiling at his cute reaction.
Together they made their way, towards the center of the city; Jimin trailed after Sophia like a lost puppy. Sophia herself also wasn't too familiar with the Miryang. She is only about once every two weeks here to buy groceries for herself. She preferred to keep a distance from humanity for the exact same reason as most other mutants do, they know that as soon as they would find out that someone is a mutant they would eject or worse kill them.
Jimin started to feel very anxious; with all these people surrounding him, it was too much at once, after seeing not more than 20 different people over the last decade. "Sophia..." He said it under his breath. Sophia turned around, worried at the pleading tone of the seventeen-year-old. "It's too many people... I don't think I can do this." Jimin's voice was small, almost drowning in the surrounding noises.
"I know it's hard for you, but we need a car, and we'll only get it here." She smiled apologetic, to which Jimin only replied with a small nod.
Sophia wanted to take the hand of the younger to give him reassurance, that everything would be alright, but she remembered how Jimin reacted the last time she tried to take his hands. She looked around, and her eyes fell upon a clothing store; at its sight, an idea came to her mind.
"What are we doing here?" Jimin asked, confused.
"Just wait and see." Sophia bought a pair of gloves; they were not normal ones for winter but thin ones, worn rather for fashion reasons than for reasons of keeping one's hands warm. She handed them to Jimin, who in return looked at her with confused eyes.
"You told me that as soon as you touch someone, you'll suffer immense pain. I think they could help you with that problem." She whispered, not wanting to bring any attention towards them.
Jimin was unsure, if he should take the gloves, but he decided that it wouldn't do any harm to try it. He carefully put them on, and before he could react, Sophia already took his hand in her own and squeezed his smaller hand reassuringly.
The boy panicked initially, but he calmed down when his pain didn't increase. He opened his eyes, which he had in his panic closed in preparation for the incoming pain, and examined both of their hands lying in each other.
