At the sight of my love

At the sight of my love.

My stomach flipped, the moment my eyes dared to meet his as if my entire being remembered him before my mind could. I blinked once, twice, then again and pretending not to feel the heat rising to my cheeks.

The wait was over.

My inner child, the one who had been holding her breath since Jaipur, finally exhaled as if his presence alone gave her permission to feel again.

"Hellooooo sweetheart !!!!! How are you? How's your health?" Rakshita asked sweetly, pulling me into a warm hug.

I smiled against her shoulder. "Far better. How was your event?"

"Superb like me!" she said with a cheerful smile, walking in casually.

I chuckled while stepping aside to let her pass, still carefully keeping my gaze anywhere but not on him—because I could already feel his eyes on me.

I didn't look at him.

Not even a glance.

But my body felt every inch of his presence.

The soft click of his shoes as he walked in. The faint rustle of his shirt as he adjusted his sleeves.

I busied myself with closing the door, suddenly very focused on the lock that had never required this much attention before.

"How's your health?" He asked directly, voice calm—too calm.

I paused, hand still resting on the doorknob. My heart gave the slightest flutter before I turned, slowly... finally meeting his gaze again.

"What happened to me? I'm Great as always" I said softly with a nervous smile.

"The Naina I knew doesn't look like this one" He said and I let out a soft chuckle "Which naina are you talking about?"

“The Naina I knew had fire in her veins…”His voice was low, steady “This one… she looks like she’s been burned by it.”

My breath caught for a second. I tried to hold the smile, but it barely reached my eyes. “It’s not that deep” I said softly, brushing it off. “Just some sickness. I’m fine now.”

He just nodded but his face was saying something else. Something serious in his eyes— maybe concern when they held mine.

"Are you sure?" He asked, voice low—honest. I gave him a small smile. "I'm okay, don't worry" I said quietly.

"Better." I blinked and broke eye contact with him first, brushing my fingers down my sleeve.

Rakshita had already wandered off toward the living room, probably with Rishi and Dadi by now. Her laugh echoed through the house as usual bright and loud.

"Dadi, I missed you so much." Rakshita said, wrapping her arms around Gayatri Ji like she was her own grandma.

"How are you, my child!" she asked warmly.
