Rayla's POV

My boots beat against the stone of the ground as I run down to the courtyard. My heart pounds in my chest and my ears ring as I use the power of the full moon to hide myself from the Katolis Guards. Soldiers run past me in every direction. They shout frantically about protecting the king and finding the princes. Some shout about how the elven assassins are here... We are here. This place is utter chaos. A faint light glowing in hay stacked onto a wooden cart catches my eye. I cautiously walk over, careful not to be seen. I move the hay and peek inside, spotting the yellow glow toad and Prince Ezran clutching the dragon egg close. "Where's your brother?" I inquire, glancing behind me then back at the young prince. The boy looks up at me with wide eyes and gives me a slight nervous smile.

Callum's POV

I sprint up the stone stairs to Harrow's room. The door is blocked by Soren and another guard, their blades crossed together in an X. "Let me through! I need to see the King!" I say in a somewhat commanding tone. Soren and the other guard look at each other then back at me. "Let me through." I snap when I see Soren and the guards hesitate. My eyes narrow in anger, 'Why aren't they listening?' As soon as the thought crosses my mind, Viren steps out of the bedroom. 'Of course.'

"What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same thing." I glare at Viren. Soren and the guards look between me and Viren confused, the tension in the room thick. "Let. Me. Through" I demand lowly.

"I am afraid we cannot do that Prince Callum." Viren's voice is monotone, but his eyes are full of hate and anger as he stares down at me. My eyes narrow further into a glare.

"Can't or won't?" I snap, "Is it because you do not want the King to find out? I know what you did, you stole the egg of the Dragon Prince. If the King knew, we both know you wouldn't live to see morning."

"You impudent little mongrel," Viren sneers full of hate, "How dare you speak to me that way!? You have been spoiled and given everything and that has left you weak! It has left you helpless! Your entire world is changing tonight and there is nothing you or anyone else can do to stop it." Wind howls through the air as the torches go out.

"They're here!" shouts Soren, "Ready your weapons!" The guards all ready themselves to fight a losing battle against an enemy that cannot be seen in the height of the full moon. Chaos breaks out in the corridor, blades clashing, arrows being shot left and right. It is madness and I am at the center. Suddenly, a hand grabs my shoulder. I am quick to turn ready to throw a punch when I am met with worried violet eyes.

"What do you think you are doing!?" Kyran shouts pulling me to the stairs.

"The King..."

Kyran is quick to cut me off, "Will be protected. Let's go." We run down the stairs bumping into Rayla who looks just as shocked as Kyran.

"How are you not dead?" Rayla exclaims as our feet pound on the stone stairs with our descent to the courtyard.

"You don't wanna know." I hear Kyran mutter among the mayhem. We run over to the cart where Ezran had hidden with Bait and the dragon egg. He pokes his head out from the hay.

"Callum! You're okay!" Ezran jumps out of the cart, his small arms quick to wrap around my waist.

"Yeah." I look down wrapping my arms around Ezran for a moment. "We have to go. If we stay much longer, we won't ever make it out. We have the cover of night and the chaos all around us, now is our best chance." We run towards the Katolis gates. Ezran turns back to take one last look at our home. "He'll be fine Ez. He has the best guards in Katolis protecting him." A nod is all I receive in response.

"Let's go." Kyran says pulling Ezan and I along. Rayla watches us from the corner of her eye, blades in hand, stance defensive. We sprint out of the city and into the woods in the cover of night.
