"Sebastian?" Luca muttered confused..

Luca’s POV

Luca sat at the dining table, trying to ignore the sudden wave of nausea creeping up his throat. His stomach felt… off, like something was twisting inside him, making it impossible to focus.

Damien was still talking about the situation at the docks, but his voice started to blur in Luca’s ears. His hands felt clammy, his skin too warm despite the cool morning air.

Then it hit him.

A sharp, violent lurch in his stomach.

Luca clamped a hand over his mouth and bolted from the chair. He barely made it to the bathroom before he collapsed to his knees, retching into the toilet. His body trembled as wave after wave of sickness crashed through him.

He groaned, forehead resting against the cool porcelain.

What the hell?

He hadn’t eaten anything bad. Was it stress?

The sound of footsteps behind him made him tense. A second later, Damien’s voice, sharp with concern, filled the space.

“Luca , baby??”

Luca winced, not wanting him to see this.

“I’m fine,” he rasped.

Damien, of course, didn’t believe him for a second.

“Like hell you are,” Damien muttered, stepping inside and crouching beside him.

Luca felt his husband’s strong hands brush over his back, rubbing slow, firm circles as he tried to catch his breath.

“ Angel ,” Damien said, frowning. “What’s wrong?”

Luca swallowed, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “I… I don’t know. Maybe I just—”

The nausea surged again.

He lurched forward, gagging into the toilet, and Damien cursed under his breath, steadying him.

Luca felt humiliated. He hated feeling weak in front of Damien, especially now, when things were already so complicated.

Damien sighed, brushing Luca’s hair back. “You’re not sick, are you?”

Luca blinked at him, confused. “What?”

“You don’t have a fever,” Damien muttered. “And this came out of nowhere.”

Luca groaned, resting his head against Damien’s shoulder. “I swear, if you start diagnosing me, I will strangle you.”

Damien smirked, but there was something thoughtful in his gaze. He reached out, pressing a hand against Luca’s stomach, and Luca batted him away.

“I just need to rest,” Luca grumbled, pulling himself up on shaky legs.

Damien watched him carefully, eyes narrowing slightly, as if he was piecing something together.

Luca, however, was too exhausted to notice.

He had no idea what was happening to him.

And he definitely had no idea that it was only the beginning.

Damien’s POV

Damien stood by the window, phone pressed to his ear, fingers drumming against the glass as he listened to the infuriatingly smug voice on the other end.

Sebastian wasn’t taking this seriously.

“Look at you,” Sebastian drawled, voice laced with amusement. “Calling me first thing in the morning. I knew you still cared.”
