Chapter – The Edge of Panic

Damien’s POV

Damien Volkov did not panic.

Ever.

But right now, his fingers itched to tear the entire city apart.

Luca was gone.

The moment he realized it, something inside him snapped—a raw, primal thing, a beast of obsession and fury that did not tolerate disobedience.

Sebastian was the same. One second, he had been brooding over a glass of whiskey, discussing how to gut the bastards who thought they could touch their lovers. The next, he was stiff, cold rage settling into his bones like ice.

“Where is she?” Sebastian’s voice was quiet, but dangerous.

Damien’s own breath came slow and sharp. “Where the fuck is he?

Phones were out within seconds. Calls were made. Men were sent. Surveillance checked.

Nothing.

No sign of them. No trace.

For the first time in years, Damien felt something close to fear.

Not because he thought Luca had left him—no, Luca knew better than that. But because someone else could have taken him.

And if they had—

The entire city would drown in blood.

Sebastian ran a hand down his face, his jaw clenched so tightly it looked painful. "She wouldn't—" He cut himself off, shaking his head. He didn’t believe it.

Neither did Damien.

They wouldn’t leave. Not unless something was wrong.

And then—

A fucking text.

Valarie: "We're just getting dinner. Relax."

Damien stared at the screen. Just getting dinner.

His vision blurred with rage.

Sebastian exhaled a sharp breath through his nose, his entire body vibrating with tension.

"They're together," Damien muttered.

Sebastian’s grip on his phone tightened. “They went out without telling us.”

They disobeyed.

They put themselves in danger.

Damien’s blood pounded. "They have no idea what they just did..."  His voice was low. Too calm.

Sebastian nodded once, his expression dark. "We find them."

Damien was already standing. "And then we remind them who they belong to."

Moment of Freedom

Valarie’s POV

For the first time in what felt like ages, Valarie Ivanov wasn’t being watched.

No possessive hands dragging her back. No sharp glares warning her not to leave. No Sebastian breathing down her neck.

She exhaled deeply, leaning back in her chair as she sipped from her drink, finally at peace. Across from her, Luca was doing the same—his shoulders relaxing, his usual tension melting away.
