Symphony of distraction (kinda?)

Grace's pov~

I'm alone.

For a second, I just stand there, whiskey in hand, watching the crowd swallow Slash and Duff whole.

I should find Katelyn.

Or maybe I shouldn't.

Instead, my gaze drifts toward a table in the corner, a little away from the chaos. Four guys sit there, hunched over the table, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what the fuck they're doing.

Dave Mustaine, flaming red hair wild around his face, is breaking up lines of coke with the edge of a credit card. His bandmates watch, waiting their turn.

And then Dave glances up.

And he sees me.

His eyes spark with something, recognition. A slow smirk tugs at his lips, and with a flick of his fingers, he motions for me to come over.

Huh.

Didn't expect that.

I hesitate for a second. Not because I'm scared- I am fucking Slash, I am sure I can handle a bunch of coked-up metalheads -but because I didn't think Dave would remember me.

I glance around. Slash is gone. Katelyn is busy being a groupie somewhere.

Fuck it.

I make my way over.

Dave leans back in his chair, watching me as I approach, that smirk never leaving his face.

"Well, look who it is," he drawls, voice all raspy amusement.

I raise a brow. "You remember me?"

He snorts. "'Course I do. You were the only person at Slash's party who wasn't a complete fucking idiot."

I smirk. "That's a low bar."

He laughs, then jerks his head toward the guys. "This is David, Marty and Menza. Boys, this is Grace."

David Ellefson leans forward, studying me. "Dave actually likes someone? That's rare as fuck."

Nick Menza chuckles, reaching for his beer. "Yeah, what's wrong with her?"

Dave rolls his eyes. "Shut the fuck up." Then he grins at me. "She's cool."

Marty Friedman lifts a brow. "Huh. Cool, huh?"

Dave's smirk turns wicked. "Well," he muses, flicking at the edge of his credit card, "for one, I gave her her first taste of cocaine last night."
The guys laugh.

I roll my eyes. "Yeah, thanks for that."

Dave snickers. "Hey, you took it like a champ."

I scoff. "I was fucking wrecked."

"Yeah," he says, nodding like that was the whole point.

Marty chuckles. "You want some more? Since you're already initiated and all."

Dave grins, nudging the coke toward me. "Yeah, Grace. Go ahead. First one's free, right?"

I glance at the powder, then shake my head. "I think I'll pass."

Nick laughs. "Smart girl."

Dave grins. "Yeah, you were a fucking disaster last night."

"Thanks," I deadpan.

David smirks. "You can sit with us if you want. If you're not scared of the big bad metalheads."

I glance around again. Slash is off with Duff. Katelyn is nowhere to be found.
