Y/N froze, Tanjiro's words striking her like a bolt of lightning.
Shock coursed through her veins as the realization of their compromising position sank in.
Just as the demon lord's mind raced to concoct an excuse, the shoji door slammed open with a thunderous bang.
Giyu, the stoic Water Hashira, stood in the doorway, his icy blue eyes widening as he took in the scene before him.
His gaze flicked from Y/N's flushed face and disheveled kimono to Tanjiro's gripping hands and the way he hovered protectively over her.
Giyu's expression darkened, his brows furrowing in disapproval.
Tanjiro, sensing the new arrival, slowly released Y/N and stepped back.
He turned to face Giyu, his pink eyes wide with panic.
"Giyu-san, this isn't what it looks like!" he exclaimed, his voice pitching higher in distress.
Giyu remained silent, his lips pressed into a thin, disapproving line.
He took a step into the room, his presence commanding and intimidating despite his quiet demeanor.
The air grew heavy with tension as he approached Tanjiro, his eyes never leaving the younger man's face.
"Tanjiro," Giyu said at last, his voice low and dangerous.
"Explain yourself. What are you doing with... Y/N?" His gaze flicked briefly to Y/N, a flicker of revulsion in his eyes before he turned his attention back to Tanjiro. Oh so he remember...
Tanjiro swallowed hard, his mind scrambling for the right words.
"I... I was just trying to confirm if she was the real Muzan Kibutsuji, Giyu-san! I didn't mean for us to be in this position, I swear!" He gestured helplessly to Y/N, his face flushed with embarrassment and fear.
Giyu's eyes narrowed, his gaze boring into Tanjiro's.
For a long, agonizing moment, he said nothing, letting the silence stretch between them.
Then, slowly, he spoke.
"You are treading a dangerous path, Tanjiro. Do not let your guard down, even for a moment. Muzan Kibutsuji is dangerous being, and you..."
He paused, his voice hardening.
"You are too valuable to lose yourself to her tricks."
