"Seriously, Kagami? Shakespeare?" Y/N leaned back in the plush theater seat, a half-eaten bag of popcorn resting on their lap. The stage, bathed in the warm glow of the spotlight, depicted a medieval castle.
Kagami, fidgeting beside them, grumbled, "It was either this or... interpretive dance with live eels. This seemed less... slimy."
"Fair point," Y/N conceded, popping a kernel into their mouth. "But 'Romeo and Juliet'? You, the guy who thinks 'passionate' is spiking a basketball, are watching a play about star-crossed lovers?"
"Shut up," Kagami hissed, his eyes fixed on the stage. "It's for... cultural enrichment."
"Cultural enrichment," Y/N echoed, snorting. "Right. And I'm here for... free popcorn."
The first act unfolded, the actors delivering their lines with dramatic flair. Kagami, despite his initial reluctance, seemed somewhat captivated, his brow furrowed in concentration.
"He's loud," Kagami muttered, referring to the actor playing Romeo. "Does he have to yell every line?"
"It's called projecting, Kagami," Y/N whispered back, suppressing a giggle. "It's theater."
"Well, he's projecting right into my eardrums," Kagami retorted. "And why is she so... dramatic? 'Oh, Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?' Just call him, like, on his cell phone."
"They didn't have cell phones back then, genius," Y/N said, rolling their eyes. "And it's not about calling him, it's about..."
"About what?" Kagami interrupted, turning to them.
"About... the feeling," Y/N said, searching for the right words. "The longing, the... desperation."
Kagami stared at them blankly. "Desperation? Like when Tetsu steals the ball right before a dunk?"
"No! Not like that!" Y/N exclaimed, exasperated. "It's... ugh, never mind."
The intermission arrived, and the lights came up. Kagami stretched, his joints popping. "I need to get some air. This is... intense."
"Intense?" Y/N chuckled. "You're acting like you're playing a three-on-one. It's a love story."
"Yeah, a love story where everyone dies," Kagami grumbled. "What's the point?"
"The point is... the emotions," Y/N said, trying again. "The sacrifice, the... the..."
"The what?" Kagami asked, his eyes narrowing.
"The... passion!" Y/N blurted out, their cheeks flushing. "The... the way they feel for each other."
Kagami blinked, his expression softening slightly. "Oh."
The second act began, and the tragic tale unfolded. The tension in the theater was palpable, even Kagami seemed to be holding his breath.
"That's... messed up," Kagami whispered, as Juliet took her own life. "Why would she do that?"
"Because she loved him," Y/N said softly. "And she couldn't live without him."
Kagami was silent for a moment, his gaze fixed on the stage. "That's... stupid.""Maybe," Y/N said, "but it's also... brave."
"Brave?" Kagami repeated, turning to them. "How is that brave?"
"To love someone so much that you'd... you'd do anything for them," Y/N said, their voice barely a whisper. "Even... that."
Kagami looked at them, his eyes searching theirs. "You think that's brave?"
