Everything Feels a Little Too Real Now

Hallie had expected things to feel different.

She had just officially, undeniably, no-going-back-now confessed her feelings to Wes.

She had just spent the night wrapped around him, under him, with him.

She had just let herself have him—not as a rival, not as a fake boyfriend, but as something finally  real.

So, yeah. Things were bound to feel different.

She just didn't expect this.

Didn't expect the way her body still hummed, still craved, still felt his hands everywhere.

Didn't expect the way he looked at her this morning—like she was his and had always been.

Didn't expect to wake up in his bed, tangled in him, and feel so...

Complete.

She was still trying to figure it out when she walked into work.

And, of course, he was already there.

Sitting at his desk like he hadn't spent half the night completely wrecking her.

Looking at her like he wasn't the reason she still felt warm between her thighs.

Like he wasn't still thinking about everything they did.

She swallowed hard, forcing herself to act normal.

Like she hadn't spent the entire elevator ride up trying to stop herself from replaying every single moment of last night.

She could do this.

She could be cool, collected, professional.

Except—

"Morning, sweetheart."

His voice was low, teasing, deep enough to remind her exactly what it had sounded like last night when he had whispered in her ear, told her how good she felt, how much he needed her.

Her pulse skipped.

God.

She was so screwed.
Hallie narrowed her eyes.

"You can't call me that at work."

Wes smirked.

"You didn't seem to mind it last night."

Her face burned.

"Oh my god, stop."

Wes just chuckled, utterly unbothered.

"Not my fault you're flustered, Dawson."

"I'm not flustered."

"Uh-huh. You're avoiding eye contact."

Hallie rolled her eyes, focusing on her computer.

"I have emails to check."

Wes hummed, tapping his fingers against his desk like he was enjoying this way too much.

"Sure. You do that. I'll just sit here and enjoy the fact that my girlfriend is pretending to be busy instead of admitting she spent all night moaning my name."

Hallie choked on absolutely nothing.

"WESLEY."

He laughed.

"Relax, sweetheart. No one's listening."

She glared.

"You're impossible." Hallie huffed, forcing herself to ignore him.
