Ridhi's pov:

Who invented this school system, where we have to wake up early, go to school, and do homework? I was already getting ready for school when I heard my mom calling me for breakfast.

"Come on, hurry up! It’s already late, Ridhi ma. Your brother’s waiting for you. You’re a girl and still wake up late for school! What will you do in your future?" my mom started her usual morning lecture.

"Okay, ma… just calm down. Don’t start early in the morning," I said, trying to stay calm.

"I’m just telling you this for your own good, but you never listen, Ridhi. Just try to wake up early!" She wasn’t letting it go, as always. It’s like I can’t wake up earlier unless there’s something exciting on my schedule for the day.

"Please, stop fighting, ma. It’s already late, and she hasn’t even started her breakfast! And I’m the one in charge of arranging the prayer today. I have to leave now!" My brother, Kabir, interrupted, clearly frustrated. I felt a bit bad that I was causing him to rush, but honestly, it wasn’t my fault...my alarm didn’t go off on time. If I told them that, they’d just say I was making excuses.

"This is why I tell you to wake up early, Ridhi! Look, now Kabir has to leave, and your father has already gone too! What will we do now? You haven’t even had your breakfast!" My mom continued to fuss.

"Ma, just pack her breakfast, and she can eat it during her break," Kabir suggested.

To our surprise, mom started yelling at him, "What nonsense are you talking, Kabir? I won’t let her skip her breakfast! She’ll end up with low BP again. I swear, I’ll tear you apart if you say something like that again!" I couldn’t help but laugh at how my brother got scolded for just trying to help.

"Krishnaaa… please save me from this family," he said, jokingly praying for help.

"Just call Ayaan, beta. He’s not like you. Tell him I said he should take Ridhi to school with him," my mom ordered Kabir.

Wait, what? When did my mom become my personal matchmaker?

Now, I’m going to school with Ayaan.

"Thank you so much, ma! That’s actually a great idea!" I said, feeling relieved and happy.

Kabir quickly called Ayaan, and as he left for school, I felt a little lighter, knowing I wouldn't be late anymore.

I quickly ate my breakfast, barely tasting it, and hurriedly adjusted my makeup and hair in the mirror. As I finished, I anxiously waited for him. After what felt like an eternity, I finally heard the sound of a bike horn. My mom instantly recognized it as Ayaan, and she waved me off, signaling me to go.

The moment I stepped outside, a wave of shyness washed over me, and my heart started racing.

"Good morning, Ridhi. Shall we go?" Ayaan greeted me with a warm, charming smile that somehow made me feel both nervous and happy at the same time. I smiled back and walked toward him.

"Sit back, Ridhi," he advised gently, but by then, my nerves were already on edge. I climbed onto the bike, my hands trembling as I adjusted myself.

I couldn’t believe it—I was actually sitting on the back of Ayaan’s bike. It felt surreal, like something out of a dream, and a strange sense of joy and excitement filled me.

As Ayaan revved the engine, I tried to hold on, but the bike jerked forward unexpectedly, and I lost my balance, falling slightly onto his back.

What the hell did you do, Ridhi?

You are so doomed.

"Sorry, sorry, Ayaan... it’s just... I slipped," I stammered, my face burning with embarrassment. He just nodded, not saying anything.

Our ride to school was incredibly quiet, and I couldn’t help but feel like I was floating in some kind of heaven. The wind was rushing past us, but inside, I was completely lost in the moment.

But as we entered the school, I suddenly realized the eyes of the entire school were on me. It felt like everyone was staring, whispering, and judging me. They looked at me like I was doing something wrong, something sinful. I wished I could disappear.

I quickly got off Ayaan's bike, feeling the rush of emotions, and he flashed a smile at me. Without a second thought, I ran towards my class, my face burning with embarrassment. And I forget to even thank him...

"Got it, Babs, got it! So, with whom did my Babs come today?" Kavya’s teasing voice rang in my ears.

"Haan, Ridhi Babs already got so close with her crush, huh?" Preeti joined in, her playful tone making me even more self-conscious.

"The whole school is talking about how you came with Ayaan on his bike, because he never takes any girl on his bike!" Preeti added, and I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride and happiness at the same time.

"Okay, okay, let’s get to class before the teacher catches us," I said, trying to brush off their teasing, but inside, I felt a strange sense of joy mixed with nervousness. We all settled down and tried to focus on our so-called classes.

In the middle of class, an announcement came over...

"Dear students, this year you’re in your 10th class, and as part of your curriculum, we have different clubs for subjects, sports, and various activities. Please choose a club to join, as it’s an important part of the program, helping you refresh from your regular studies."

The whole class erupted in applause, and everyone started discussing which club they would join.

"So, which club are you guys joining, babiesss?" Preeti asked, her voice dripping with curiosity.

"Maths," Kavya replied confidently.

"Chuuu... Maths? Kavya, you’re really boring," I teased, rolling my eyes.

"I’m into books, so I’m going to the English club," Preeti declared with a proud grin.

"What about you, Ridhi?" they asked, looking at me expectantly. To be honest, I wasn’t interested in any of the clubs at all. But then, a thought hit me.

"Which club is our senior Ayaan in... do you guys know?" I asked with a shy smile, my heart racing just thinking about him.

"Oh, oh… our Ridhiiii wants to spend more time with her crushhh!" Kavya teased, her voice almost sing-song, making my cheeks burn even brighter.

"He’s in the basketball club, and he’s the captain," Kavya said.

"Oh my god... he’s so talented to be a captain!" I said, completely surprised.

Kavya replied, "Okay, don’t overhype it. Your brother is the president of the math club and a math topper too." But something about the way she said it felt off.

It got me thinking...why does she always seem to bring something up whenever my brother is mentioned? There’s this strange feeling, like she’s always adding something extra whenever he’s the topic. It’s making me wonder... What’s really going on?

I quickly got up from my seat and rushed towards the basketball club, overwhelmed with excitement. But when I arrived, my happiness and expectations are completely destroyed.
