Next to the statue of the old oak tree, to the right side of the door to the enchanted forest, a bronze gold sculpture of one of the mermen had materialised. Cass decided to use this as an opportunity to read up on the lore of the third guardian.
'The merpeople; the merpeople of Subterrania were once a proud and noble race and rulers of their underwater land. The merpeople will defend their gem to the very last merman!'
Looking again at the door that led to the enchanted forest, Cassandra saw yet another detail that had gone unnoticed. Above the door was a small painting of a tree. The doors had been telling her what she was heading into every time and she hadn't payed attention! To verify her suspicions, Cassandra raced up the stairs to the doors to Toyland and the Storm. The door to the left had a rocket, and the door to the right had a wave.
Racing up the newly-unlocked spiral staircase to the far left of the door to Toyland, Cassandra felt relieved to know that there was a way for her to guess what the next leg of this adventure would involve. And sure enough, there it was; the door to the green gem. Above the door, on a triangle flag was a painting of an open book. This must be a library. Rapunzel would be over the moon.
Before she could head through the door, something else caught Cassandra's attention; a giant mirror, and Cassandra noticed two more statue bases either side. Cassandra took a quick look at herself in the mirror, but had to look again after seeing her reflection. In the reflection, she was wearing a magician's outfit. Cassandra raised an eyebrow, and looked down at herself as her clothing suddenly felt a lot lighter. Her green uniform had vanished and she was now wearing a purple tuxedo jacket with a silky white shirt underneath, some tight black trousers, some black and white slip-on shoes that were slightly too big for her (but not too big that it would be an issue), and finally, the stupidest top hat with a violet ribbon tied around the middle.
"Har har Sabrina, can I have my normal clothes back?" No response. "Sabrina?"
"Psst!" Sabrina's voice echoed. "You'll get your clothes back once you get the blue gem!"
"Blue gem? I haven't even got the green gem yet! You mean I have to wear this dress up costume for god knows how long?" Again, no response. Cass rubbed her face with her hands, which were now completely gloved in white. She would really be going through this library looking like an utter idiot. With one last breath, Cassandra stepped through the door, past the books that were stopped on the ground. On the other side, she spawned in, as she had guessed, a library, but everything was oversized. She would have to be extra careful here, because if she knocked over a candle in the dish with the gooey wax dripping down the side in this place, there was a chance she would not make it out, even if Sabrina tried to help.
There were now two options for Cassandra; up or down. The lower path was plagued by living bright red letter A's that kept saying the letter 'A' over and over again, which was really fucking annoying, so up it was.
A couple of books were sticking out from above which formed a new platform that was still low enough for Cass to be able to jump on without any kind of springboards. Cassandra was suspicious about how clear the path was, but then she realised that one of the giant books was being pushed out across the path, knocking things down to the lower level. There was one annoying letter 'A' that this happened to. Cassandra just made sure she timed everything correctly and she pretty quickly made it past this part of the course. Though while she was walking along the books and bookmarks, Cass noticed one open book with illustrations that were portraying certain events that she had experienced so far in the castle, such as the giant apple boulder and the giant tikki statues.
Cassandra continued making her way through the library, when she reached the end of a shelf. As she looked around, trying to figure out what to do next, she wondered if her magician outfit played any important part in her quest. She rummaged through her pockets, shoes and anywhere that could potentially store a magic wand, when she eventually found one tucked in her magic hat. She waved it around and thought really hard about creating some kind of bridge to the next shelf, but nothing happened. The wand was useless. Sabrina really had just dressed Cassandra up like this for a laugh.
