抖阴社区

Shadow glances at me, a faint smirk pulling at the corner of his lips. "Eat my dust Faker" he replies, speeding up again, trying to leave me behind.

The wind rushes past as we dash through Green Hills, the world around us nothing more than a blur of colour. The familiar hills, loops, and green grass fly by as we push each other to go faster. Shadow's air shoes light up, the glow trailing behind him, but I'm not about to let him pull away.

"You're slowing down Shads" I call out, closing the gap between us.

Shadow doesn't respond but glances back at me, a glint of challenge in his eyes. "Still way behind Faker" he teases, picking up the pace.

We race side by side for a while, the thrill of the speed making my heart race faster than my legs. But I can see the end coming - the familiar hill ahead. It's the perfect spot to finish the race.

"Last one to the top is a rotten eggman!" I shout, grinning widely.

Shadow speeds up even more, his feet barely touching the ground as he accelerates toward the hill. He's ahead for a moment, but I push myself harder, focusing all my energy on catching up. My muscles are burning, but I refuse to let him win.

The finish line is close now, and I can see the peak of the hill just ahead. Shadow's still ahead, but I give everything I've got. The gap between us closes with every step.

At the last second, I rocket forward. Shadow looks over, probably sensing I'm closing in, but it's too late. With a final burst of speed, I cross the finish line just a hair in front of him.

I slow down, panting, and watch as Shadow pulls up next to me, his chest rising and falling in sync with mine.

"Ha! Beat you again Shads" I say, my grin widening as I catch my breath.

Shadow looks at me, a faint smirk still on his lips. "Tch, you barely won Faker."

I laugh and give him a small pat on the shoulder. "Better luck next time" I say, still feeling the rush of adrenaline coursing through me.

We both slow down as our breathing steadies, the final rush of speed giving way to a peaceful moment, standing on top of the hill. The wind rustles through the grass, and the view from here as the sun begins to set is breathtaking, casting it's orange and pink hues across the sky.

I glance over at Shadow, his gaze fixed on the horizon. There's something about the way he's standing there, so still, that makes me hesitate. The memory of earlier, when he was crying at the house, lingers in my mind.

"So," I start, trying to sound casual, "what was that about earlier? Back at the house, you know... when you were... well, you were upset."

Shadow stiffens slightly but doesn't look at me. His tone is cold as he mutters, "None of your business Faker."

I open my mouth to press further, but I hesitate. It's clear he doesn't want to talk about it. I sigh.

"Look," I say, taking a step closer, "if you ever need to talk, or if you need someone, I'm here. You don't have to keep everything bottled up."

For a moment, there's silence between us, the air thick with unspoken words. Our eyes meet, and I can't quite look away, the intensity in his gaze making my chest feel weirdly warm. There's something in the way we're standing here, like the sunset itself is pulling us into this shared moment.

Shadow shifts, finally breaking the tension. He looks away, his gaze turning back to the view in front of us, the sun dipping lower into the sky.

"I know," he says quietly, his voice softer than usual. "But... you don't need to worry about me Faker."

A strange lump forms in my throat. There's a vulnerability in his eyes, something buried beneath the usual walls he puts up. I could press him more, but something tells me now isn't the time.

After a long pause, Shadow speaks again, his voice a little softer.

"Sonic..."

My ears perk up at the sound of my name, the way he said it catching me off guard. "Do you think... we could be friends?" he asks, the question almost tentative, as if he's unsure how it'll be received.

For a moment, I freeze. Friends? My heart practically skips a beat. I've always wanted that. Hell, I've been trying to get close to Shadow for as long as I can remember, even if it meant annoying him to no end. Our rivalry has been a constant, pushing us to be better, but also keeping us at a distance. Still, through all of it, I've never stopped hoping he'd let me in. But this... this is different. I didn't expect him to be the one to bring it up.

I glance at him, feeling a warmth spread through me. It's strange, but in this quiet moment, the world around us seems to fade a little. There's no fighting, no racing, just the two of us standing here, facing each other. I realize how much I've wanted this, even if I never said it out loud.

My tail gives a small, involuntary wag, and I can't help the grin that pulls at my lips. "You really mean that?" I ask, still trying to process the sudden shift in our dynamic.

Shadow looks away briefly, his usual walls coming back up, but there's something different in his eyes. Something softer. "Yeah," he mutters, not meeting my gaze. "But don't get any funny ideas Faker. We're still rivals."

I chuckle, the tension in the air lightening. "Of course we are" I reply, my grin widening.

For a second, the world seems to settle into a new rhythm. Our rivalry isn't gone, but maybe there's space for something else - something more.

Until the moment is shattered by manic laughter. A familiar, cruel sound that cuts through the peaceful silence, sending a chill down my spine.

"Well, well, well," a voice echoes from behind us, dripping with smug satisfaction. "What do we have here?"
