Two Months Later

Yo-han had never been the kind of man to handle emotions well. He was all sharp edges, unreadable expressions, and an iron grip on control.

But when it came to Ga-on and their daughter, he had no control at all.

Ga-on sat on the couch, the baby nestled in his arms, as Yo-han hovered nearby, arms crossed, watching.

“Yo-han,” Ga-on sighed, amused. “You’re staring again.”

Yo-han didn’t even blink. “You’re holding her wrong.”

Ga-on raised a brow. “Excuse me?”

Yo-han stepped forward, adjusting Ga-on’s arms by barely an inch. “Support her neck more.”

Ga-on huffed. “I know how to hold our daughter.”

Yo-han grunted. He still didn’t move away.

Ga-on smirked. “Are you going to keep standing there like a bodyguard, or are you actually going to sit down and relax?”

Yo-han hesitated. Then, reluctantly, he lowered himself onto the couch beside Ga-on. His arms automatically reached out, and Ga-on chuckled before placing their daughter in his hands.

The moment she was in his arms, Yo-han melted.

It was ridiculous, really—seeing Kang Yo-han, the terrifying, cold-blooded judge, go completely soft over a tiny baby.

Ga-on leaned against his shoulder. “You love her, don’t you?”

Yo-han scoffed. “Obviously.”

Ga-on smiled, watching as Yo-han gently ran a hand over their daughter’s tiny head.

Then, unexpectedly, Yo-han spoke—his voice lower, more hesitant.

“I never thought I’d have this.”

Ga-on turned to look at him. “Have what?”

Yo-han didn’t meet his eyes. He just stared down at the baby in his arms, his thumb rubbing slow circles against her tiny fingers.

“This,” Yo-han murmured. “A family. Something… mine.”

Ga-on felt something in his chest tighten.

“Yo-han…”

Yo-han shook his head. “I never let myself think about it. Not after everything.” He paused. “But then you happened.”

Ga-on swallowed. “And?”

Yo-han finally met his gaze. Something raw burned in his eyes.

“And I can’t lose this.”

Ga-on exhaled slowly. He reached up, threading his fingers through Yo-han’s hair, tugging gently.

“You won’t.”

Yo-han studied him for a long moment, as if testing whether he was lying.

Then, carefully, he leaned forward, pressing a slow, lingering kiss against Ga-on’s lips.

When they pulled away, Yo-han rested his forehead against Ga-on’s.

Ga-on smiled. “You’re getting better at this whole ‘expressing feelings’ thing.”

Yo-han scoffed. “Don’t push your luck.”

Ga-on laughed. And in that moment, with their daughter asleep between them and Yo-han’s warmth against his own, he had never felt safer.

Six Months Later

Ga-on had expected Yo-han to be overprotective, but he hadn’t expected this level of insanity.
