you can't leave me pt 2

Start from the beginning

At first, it was small things. Yo-han would hover too much, insist on carrying everything heavy, or wake up at night just to check if Ga-on was breathing.

But then it escalated.

“Yo-han, I can walk by myself,” Ga-on huffed, trying to pry Yo-han’s arm off his waist.

Yo-han didn’t budge. “What if you fall?”

Ga-on rolled his eyes. “I’m not weak. I had a baby, not a full-body transplant.”

Yo-han ignored him and continued escorting him like an overbearing bodyguard.

It was suffocating.

Ga-on snapped when he caught Yo-han secretly reading a medical book on postpartum complications in the middle of the night.

“Are you serious?” Ga-on snatched the book from his hands. “You’re still reading this?”

Yo-han looked unfazed. “There are a lot of risks.”

Ga-on groaned. “Yo-han, it’s been six months! I’m fine! You need to stop treating me like I’ll break.”

Yo-han’s jaw tightened. He didn’t answer.

Ga-on threw the book onto the bed. “What are you so scared of?”

Yo-han’s fingers twitched. His mask cracked—just for a second.

Then, quietly—

“I watched you die once.”

Ga-on froze.

Yo-han’s voice was eerily calm, but his hands were trembling. “I held you while you bled out. I waited outside the operating room, wondering if I’d be planning a funeral instead of bringing you home. I swore I’d never let it happen again.”

Ga-on’s throat felt tight. “Yo-han…”

Yo-han finally met his gaze, and the sheer desperation in his eyes stole Ga-on’s breath.

“I can’t lose you.” His voice cracked. “Not you. Not again.”

Ga-on’s heart clenched.

This wasn’t just overprotectiveness.

This was trauma.

Ga-on exhaled softly, stepping closer. Slowly, he took Yo-han’s hand, bringing it to his chest—where his heartbeat was strong and steady.

“I’m here.” Ga-on pressed their foreheads together. “I survived. I’m not leaving you.”

Yo-han’s grip tightened. “You don’t understand—”

Ga-on kissed him. Soft, lingering. A reassurance.

Yo-han melted.

When they pulled away, Ga-on smirked. “Now, are you going to let me take a walk outside without sending a security team after me?”

Yo-han scowled. “…I make no promises.”

Ga-on laughed. And this time, Yo-han didn’t stop him when he reached for the door.

Sun rose it's rays falling upon the Kamg mansion

Ga-on woke up to the scent of something burning.

He blinked groggily, then sat up in alarm. Smoke?

Just as he was about to panic, the bedroom door burst open, and Yo-han strode in, looking suspiciously guilty.

“Good, you’re awake.”

Ga-on narrowed his eyes. “What’s burning?”

Yo-han hesitated. Then—without a shred of shame—he muttered, “…Breakfast.”

Ga-on stared.

Yo-han, the mighty, fearsome Kang Yo-han, had burned breakfast.

“…You tried to cook?” Ga-on’s voice was a mix of disbelief and amusement.

Yo-han glared. “I followed the instructions.”

Ga-on bit back a laugh. “Clearly, you didn’t.”

Yo-han crossed his arms. “Cooking is illogical.”

Ga-on snorted. “You’re a literal genius. How can you not follow a simple recipe?”

“I did!” Yo-han scowled. “The instructions said ‘low heat’—I thought that meant ‘low patience.’”

Ga-on burst out laughing.

Yo-han looked offended. “You’re supposed to be grateful.”

Ga-on wiped his tears. “I am, I am—oh god, my stomach hurts—”

Yo-han rolled his eyes. “I’ll order food.”

Ga-on grabbed his wrist before he could leave. “Hey.”

Yo-han turned.

Ga-on smiled softly. “You really tried, didn’t you?”

Yo-han hesitated. Then, grumbled, “I wanted to do something for you.”

Ga-on’s chest ached in the best way.

Yo-han wasn’t good with words. But he tried. Every single day, he tried.

Ga-on pulled him down for a kiss. Slow, warm—grateful.

Yo-han melted into it. When they pulled away, Ga-on whispered, “Thank you.”

Yo-han huffed. “Don’t thank me yet. I nearly set the kitchen on fire.”

Ga-on laughed. “I’ll take my chances.”

Yo-han sighed. “You’re an idiot.”

Ga-on grinned. “Yeah, but I’m your idiot.”

Yo-han smirked. “Damn right.”

And sometimes
"Love isn’t always gentle words and grand gestures. Sometimes, it’s burnt breakfast and sleepless nights, quiet sacrifices and unspoken fears. And if that’s the love you give me, Yo-han… I’ll take it. Every time."
