beomgyu lay sprawled out on his couch, his phone resting on his chest as he stared blankly at the ceiling. the apartment was quiet now, almost too quiet after taehyun had left. it had only been an hour since he walked out that door, and yet the absence felt weirdly heavy, like the space beside him was missing something.

he hated to admit it, but he was still replaying everything in his head—the way taehyun had casually brushed his hair back, the teasing glint in his eyes, the way he had hugged beomgyu before leaving, like he wasn't in a rush at all. and then that stupid wink. beomgyu groaned and covered his face with his arm.

he had been overthinking the whole thing since taehyun left, but he wasn't going to text first. no way. he wasn't desperate.

his phone suddenly buzzed against his chest. beomgyu's arm flew off his face as he grabbed it, unlocking it with a little too much speed.

tyun:
miss u already. goodnight, loser.

attached to the message was a selfie. beomgyu clicked on it, and—oh, come on.

taehyun was sitting in his fancy business class window seat, slightly messy-haired, with a soft glow from the city lights behind him. his lips were slightly puckered in a playful kissy face, like he was taunting beomgyu through the screen.

beomgyu sat up, his heart doing something he did not want to acknowledge.

miss u already?

beomgyu scoffed, but his face felt warm. he tossed his phone onto the couch beside him, shaking his head.

"so dramatic," he muttered to himself, but he wasn't fooling anyone. his fingers twitched, resisting the urge to reply immediately.

a few minutes passed, and his phone buzzed again. cautiously, he picked it up.

tyun:
gonna fall asleep, but you better not ignore me like last time. you can spam me, i won't mind.

beomgyu bit his lip, hesitating. then, after a moment, he sighed and gave in.

gyu:
ur so clingy wtf. focus on ur world tour, superstar.

not even five seconds later, the message was marked as read.

beomgyu stared at the screen, waiting. taehyun didn't reply, but somehow, that was okay.

with a sigh, he flopped back onto the couch and stared at the ceiling again.

one more month, a few more weeks, he thought. that's not that long... right?

the next day, beomgyu found himself being dragged out of his apartment by soobin, who had barged in unannounced, like usual.

"you're coming with me," soobin had said, hands on his hips. "you've been cooped up in here too much. fresh air. now."

beomgyu had grumbled about being forced outside against his will, but he didn't actually mind. a little distraction sounded nice, especially since his thoughts had been running in circles all morning. soobin had planned for them to go to a bookstore first, then a new cafe he'd been dying to try, and then—according to him—wherever the universe took them.

now, as they wandered through the city, iced coffees in hand, soobin was glued to his phone, grinning at whatever was on his screen.

beomgyu squinted at him. "who's got you smiling like that?"

soobin barely glanced up. "huh?"

beomgyu leaned over dramatically, trying to peek at the messages. "are you texting your boyfriend?"
