Victor hadn’t been home for two days.
Lyra sat by the window, staring blankly outside. The sky was dull, mirroring the emptiness she felt in her chest. Her fingers twisted together in her lap, her mind restless.
Did he leave again?
The thought made her stomach sink.
Regret weighed heavily on her shoulders. Maybe she shouldn’t have asked him that question.
"Why did you leave me for two years?" Pain was visible in her eyes
He had refused to answer. Instead, he had only looked at her, then simply said—
"Eat, Lyra. You haven’t eaten anything since yesterday."
Then he stood up, ready to walk away.
She hadn’t meant to grab his hand. It was instinct. Desperation.
Her fingers wrapped around his wrist, holding on like he would disappear if she let go. Tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill.
"I was all alone here for two years… Can’t you just tell me why?"
Her voice cracked, her emotions bursting out of her all at once.
Her grip on him tightened, her body trembling. "You never called me. Not even once. But I know you called Lexa every day. Why?"
Victor stood still. Watching. Listening.
She had seen him ruthless, indifferent, intimidating—but she had never seen him silent like this.
Her sobs filled the quiet room. She wasn’t sure what she expected from him. A harsh reply? A cold glare?
Instead, he did something unexpected.
He moved.
Slowly, carefully, he pried her fingers off his wrist—gently, like she was something fragile. Like she might break if he used even a little force.
Her breath hitched as he pulled away.
But she wasn’t done. She needed answers.
She looked up at him, her eyes searching his face, pleading for something—anything.
But Victor just stared at her.
Silent. Unreadable.
And then, without a word, he turned and walked away.
Leaving her alone. Again.
