The sharp gasp of the maids echoed through the grand mansion as Aadhriti's body hit the cold marble floor.
The silver tray one of the maids had been holding slipped from her grasp, the metallic clang of utensils scattering across the ground adding to the chaos. The scent of freshly brewed tea mixed with the sharp tang of fear that now filled the air. The atmosphere, once filled with idle chatter, now pulsed with tension and dread.
Hearing the commotion, Isha and Rajdeep, who had been in the adjacent living room discussing the ongoing media frenzy surrounding their family, rushed toward the kitchen corridor.
"What happened?"
Isha demanded, her sharp voice slicing through the tense silence as her eyes darted between the maids and Aadhriti's unconscious form.
The maids, all trembling, exchanged nervous glances before one of them finally found the courage to speak.
"Ma'am... she... she just collapsed,"
the maid stammered, her voice laced with guilt and fear.
"We were talking about Ekaksh sir. She overheard us. We didn't mean to—"
Isha barely heard the rest as panic surged through her. She dropped to her knees beside her sister, gently cradling her face.
"Aadhriti! Wake up!"
Her voice cracked as she lightly patted her cheeks, but there was no response. Her sister lay still, her usually radiant complexion now deathly pale, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.
Aadhriti had always been strong—or at least, she had convinced herself and everyone around her that she was.
But Isha knew better. She had seen the silent suffering behind Aadhriti's composed facade. And now, seeing her like this, so vulnerable, sent an icy chill down her spine.
Rajdeep didn't waste another second. His voice was sharp, authoritative.
"We need to get her to the hospital. Now!"
Without hesitation, he bent down and scooped Aadhriti into his arms, cradling her delicate frame as if she were made of glass. His jaw clenched as he felt how frail she had become—how much weight she had lost in the past few weeks.
Isha quickly gathered herself and took the lead.
"We can't take her through the main gate,"
she said urgently.
"The reporters will be all over us. We'll use the back entrance."
Rajdeep nodded, tightening his grip on Aadhriti protectively as they moved swiftly through the private corridors of the mansion. The security team, already on high alert due to the media intrusion, responded instantly.
The back gate swung open just as they reached it, and a sleek black SUV stood waiting, its engine already running, prepared for emergencies. Without a word, Rajdeep gently placed Aadhriti inside, settling her carefully across the backseat.
Isha slid in beside her sister, grasping her hand.
"Hang in there, Aadhi,"
she murmured, brushing damp strands of hair away from Aadhriti's face.
