Summary:
After being framed for breaking and entering, Cuphead and Mugman attempt to escape but with no success. But with the help of a few inmates, they may have a chance to bust out. But can they trust them?
In the blazing sun rays were hitting hard on a small isle, located off the coast from Inkwell.
Like any other town, it was plagued of crime and debauchery as there were crooks. Bullies. Gangsters. Or just all around shady and hostile scoundrels hidden in the dark corners. Some can even be as cruel and wicked as the Devil himself.
Eventually, their status in society is diminished as the captured convicts would be sentenced here, at the Inkwell Penitentiary.
The area had the impenetrability of a fortress, with cement walls and wires blocking off the ocean view to add on to the punishment. The inmates were scattered around the courtyard building up their strength and grit, picking fights of all sorts or hiding away from any confrontation to distract themselves from their loss of freedom.
One day in their cellar would feel like as though time stopped; this is especially the case of the newly added felons, Cuphead and Mugman.
"We were tricked breaking into that cookie factory! This is what we get for listening to that Miss Chalice!" Mugman said aloud which aggravated his brother.
"I don't wanna hear another word about Chalice or cookies ever again!"
"I told you we shouldn't have hung out with her."
"No you didn't!"
Mugman's eyes widened, "I didn't? Well that sounds like something I should've said."
Cuphead pointed accusingly, "Yeah! Aren't YOU supposed to be the cautious one?"
"Oh! So now it's MY fault we're in prison?"
"Pretty much. All I know is we gotta get outta here. I'M GOING NUTS!"
"Plus, Elder Kettle's glasses are probably ready by now."
The cottage was a wreck as Elder Kettle was crashing into everything.
"Boys? I still can't find my glasses. I've looked everywhere."
The near sighted old man got closer to the "boys" who have been unusually silent. "Oh, I give up. Help me boys!"
He shook them both until their bucket heads fell off which made him crawl away, screaming in panic.
The boys were released from their cell and sent to the mess hall where the tone of the room matched the food's quality. They sat next a bulky cat who glared down at them; the boys scooted to the left where they hit an aggressive shark who snarled back at them. The boys scooted rapidly to the right toward the other inmate who happened to nudge an even larger inmate, a female Cyclops.
She picked up the unlucky prisoner with giant sausages for fingers and was beating him up.
Mugman whimpered, "I'm scared, Cuphead! I wanna go home! I'm too soft for prison!"
Cuphead whispered to his brother, "Don't worry. We're busting outta this joint. Tonight, at midnight, as the crow flies."
"What does that mean?"
"I don't know."
The first night, they filed through the bars to head outside using a bed sheet rope over the wall. But, they were chased by the hounds and were forced to break rocks the next day.
The second night, they tried another plan: Crawling through the vents, but they chased by the hounds again. They were sentenced to spend the night in The Box.
