I received a call from Pat, his voice laced with concern. I could sense his worry, and it struck a chord within me. You see, when someone else takes care of your responsibilities, especially ones you cherish, it can be disheartening. Pat had always been diligent about protecting me, and I appreciated his dedication.
Vic, on the other hand, insisted he didn't need anyone's protection. He had his own entourage, a tight-knit group of 13 individuals. Despite the superstition surrounding the number 13, Vic's team was incredibly loyal. Their bond was unbreakable; if Vic were to fall, they would stand by him to the very end.
As we stepped into our family's old mansion, a sense of nostalgia washed over me. The estate, with its 26 rooms, had been in our family for generations. However, it had been put up for auction seven years ago, forcing Vic and Me to purchase it. Despite its grandeur, I had never spent more than three days within its walls. Vic, though had likely spent more time here than I had.
Both Vic and I had our own luxurious penthouses on the island, overlooking the sea. But there was something about this old mansion that drew me in, a sense of history and belonging.
As I stood in the grand foyer, lost in thought, I heard the sound of footsteps echoing through the hallway. The doors swung open, and Vic strode in, his presence commanding attention.
He was dressed in a tailored black suit, perfectly accentuating his lean, athletic physique. His crisp, white shirt was complemented by a slim, silver tie, and his black trousers were impeccably pressed. The subtle scent of his Tom Ford Noir perfume wafted through the air, adding to his aura of sophistication.
Vic's chiseled features were striking, with piercing light blue and grey eyes that seemed to see right through me. His strong jawline and sharp cheekbones were accentuated by his dark hair, styled perfectly to frame his face. And, of course, his signature dimples made an appearance as he smiled, adding a hint of mischief to his demeanor.
As he approached me, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between us. We shared the same strong jawline and sharp cheekbones, but our eyes were distinctly different. While Vic's eyes were a piercing light blue and grey, mine were a deep, dark blue. We were like two sides of the same coin, identical yet opposite.
"Salve, frater." (Welcome brother in Latin) Vic's low, husky voice was familiar and comforting as he spoke.
His eyes gleamed with warmth and amusement, and his smile revealed a hint of mischief, as he awaited my response.
"Guess who's back" I say while hugging his huge body.
"Where the fuck were you gone, you should have been here Morning itself." His voice is fine, no one would hate it. I bet.
"I was in a bit problem" I say while managing the expression.
"Where's your 12?" I asked, a mischievous glint in my eye.
