Pre note:
I posted a new work for this series called The little things in between. It's just scenes I didn't add because I either forgot about them or the idea came too late to put it in. Just check my profile to find it
Please read it ('°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)
This chapter was a little later than I wanted, but I just had to write four separate assignments from scratch (procrastination caused that) and had a two hour exam in the past week and I was drained
It feels really rushed at the start. Don't think too much about the first bit, it's just some filler and what I would assume would happen
I also removed one of the benefits of the blessing and apostle position (the plate strengthens, since I forgot that Cale's is shattered :D)
Thanks @NullaStellaNoctis for telling me this, even if I never saw your comment until now :3
Only two days after Jin Woo left did Cale get discharged and returned to the apartment. He had another chat with the chairman who said that he could leave after he had a quick talk with one of their head dungeon researchers. After the two-hour conversation, one which Cale wouldn't call 'short', they decided that they wouldn't go public with his situation as they didn't get anything worthwhile. Apparently, all Cale provided was the proof that the assumptions they made about dungeons were correct.
They then packed up the things they were allowed to take from the apartment. That being all hygiene products, the few sets of clothes they had each, cutlery, plates, cups and bowls, blankets that the kids have grown attached to, all the food that was in the fridge, and a toaster for some reason. All together, they filled around four boxes worth of things.
When Cale suggested the place Jin Woo mentioned, the Chairman arranged the newly cleared apartment for them and paid for the next couple of months of rent. And on top of that, he gave Cale a phone to use to contact them in case of emergencies.
Looks like I proved myself to be trustworthy enough. But they are definitely watching my phone. Not like I'll be doing too much suspicious things.
Now, they were standing in the middle of the hallway in front of a door, kids holding a box each and Cale fiddling with the keys in one hand and a box shoved under his other arm. Right when he went to put the key into the hole, a door across the hallway opened up.
"Oh, that was fast"
Cale twisted around and made eye contact with a Jin Woo, decked in a tight black T-shirt, sport shorts and cat slippers.
"Jin Woo!" Raon trotted over with a box on his head, held with his hands. "Are you busy? Do you want to help us move in?"
Jin Woo smiled and lifted Raon's box. "If you wouldn't mind."
As soon as the box was removed, Raon spun around and ran to Cale, taking the key from his hand. The little dragon stared at the key, at the door, then at the key again before unlocking the door and pushing it open.
It was a nice and modest apartment with three bedrooms and relatively clean.
"The couple that moved out was here for nearly fifty years, I think." Jin Woo stated watching the kids place the boxes down and explore. "Raised their kids here for twenty and stayed ever since. They got too old to be by themselves and they went to a retirement home, so they probably left a lot of their stuff here." He put his own box next to the others. "The lady made some really good stir-fry too, but I didn't manage to get the recipe."
