The blast had ripped through Silco's hideout, the old metal and stone collapsing like a house of cards. The force of it sent you flying, your ears ringing, lungs burning as dust and smoke filled the air. You coughed, blinking through the haze, mind struggling to catch up to what had just happened.

And then you remembered- Mylo. Claggor. Vander. Vi.

You scrambled to your feet, ignoring the pain shooting through your ribs. The destruction was almost too much to take in. Fire crackled where parts of the building had caved in, chunks of debris littered the ground, and the stench of burning oil and blood filled the air. Your stomach twisted.

"Mylo! Claggor!" you yelled, voice hoarse. No answer.

A cold, sickening dread settled over you, but you shoved it down. You had to move. You had to find them.

Through the wreckage, you spotted movement, a hand barely visible beneath the fallen beams. You rushed forward, heart hammering as you dropped to your knees, shoving aside broken planks and chunks of stone.

His goggles were cracked, a deep gash running along his forehead, blood trickling down his face. He wasn’t moving.

"Claggor!" You pressed a trembling hand to his chest, his heartbeat was weak, but it was there.

He was alive.

You let out a shaky breath, but the relief was short lived. He was pinned, his leg trapped beneath a massive wooden beam. You grabbed it, fingers digging into the splintered surface as you pushed with everything you had. Your muscles screamed, but it barely budged.

“Come on, come on” you muttered, repositioning yourself for a better grip. You pushed again, gritting your teeth against the strain. This time, it shifted just enough. With a deep breath, you hooked your arms beneath Claggor’s shoulders and dragged him free.

A choked groan left his lips. His eyes fluttered open, unfocused.

“Y/N…?” His voice was weak, barely more than a whisper.

“I got you” you murmured, brushing his hair back from his face “You’re gonna be okay”

But you weren’t sure that was true.

Because you could hear voices, Silco’s men closing in fast.

If you didn’t move now, you’d both be dead.

With a surge of desperation, you lifted Claggor onto your back (Your hella strong). He was heavy, his dead weight pressing against you, but you didn’t stop. Couldn’t stop. You staggered through the burning wreckage, heart pounding as you carried him away from the destruction, away from Silco’s people, away from everything you had just lost.

Days blurred together.

You had found a place to hide, an abandoned storage room beneath an old shop on the outskirts of the Undercity. It wasn’t much, but it was safe. Safe enough to keep Claggor alive.

His injuries were bad. His leg was broken, his ribs bruised, his head wound deep enough that you worried he’d never wake up. But you never left his side.

You cleaned his wounds, tore up what little cloth you had to make bandages, forced him to drink water when he was too weak to do it himself. Some nights, you stayed awake just to listen to him breathe, afraid that if you closed your eyes, he wouldn’t be there when you woke up.

It was on the fifth day that he finally stirred.

A low groan left his lips, his fingers twitching against the blanket you had draped over him. His eyes cracked open, dazed and unfocused.

“Claggor” you breathed, relief flooding through you as you leaned over him “You’re awake”

His gaze found yours, confusion flickering across his face before it softened “Where…?”

“Somewhere safe” You reached for a cloth, dabbing at his forehead. “You got caught in the explosion. I-.. I couldn't save everyone” Your throat tightened. “I thought I lost you aswell”

His brow furrowed, as if trying to remember. Then, understanding dawned. “Vi… Mylo…”

You didn’t answer. You didn’t have to. The look in your eyes told him everything.

His face crumpled. He turned his head away, blinking rapidly, his chest rising and falling in uneven breaths. You reached for his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

“I’m so sorry” you whispered.

For a long moment, he didn’t say anything. Then, his fingers curled around yours, holding on tight.

Over the months claggor got better. Slowly.

You helped him sit up when he was too weak to move, helped him walk when his leg was finally strong enough to bear weight. You cooked what little food you could scavenge, made sure he got enough rest, did everything in your power to keep him alive.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, something changed.

The boy you had grown up with, 5he one who had always been the steady force in your life, became something more.

It was in the way he looked at you when he thought you weren’t paying attention. The way his touches lingered a little longer than they used to. The way your heart raced when he smiled.

But neither of you said anything.

Because healing took time.

And so did love...

10 Years Later

The Undercity never stopped moving. It was loud, bustling, filled with the same dangers and struggles it had always been. But it was home.

And Claggor was still by your side.

You had built a life together, piece by piece, from the ashes of what had been taken from you. It wasn’t perfect, but it was yours. And for the first time in a long time, you were happy.

Tonight, though, something felt… different.

Claggor had been quiet all day, thoughtful in a way that made your stomach twist with curiosity. You didn’t press him about it, not until he led you up to the rooftops, away from the crowds, to a spot that overlooked the city.

It was peaceful up here, the soft hum of neon lights reflecting in his eyes as he turned to you, his expression unreadable.

“Y/N” he said, voice steady “There’s something I need to say”

You tilted your head “What is it?”

He hesitated, then reached into his pocket, pulling out something small.

A ring.

Your breath caught.

“I’ve been thinking about this for a long time” he said, stepping closer “About how none of this-” he gestured to the city, to the life you had built together “-would have been possible without you. You saved me. Not just that night, but every day after”

Tears stung your eyes.

“You’re everything to me” he continued “And I don’t want to waste any more time not saying it. I love you, Y/N. Always have”

He opened his palm, revealing the simple, worn ring, one he must have spent months saving up for.

“Will you marry me?”

You let out a shaky laugh, tears spilling over as you cupped his face in your hands.

“You idiot” you whispered, smiling through the emotion clogging your throat “Of course I’ll marry you”

The relief on his face was immediate, his grin wide and full of that same boyish warmth you thought you had lost all those years ago. He slipped the ring onto your finger, and when you kissed him, it felt like everything had finally fallen into place.

Because this wasn’t just a proposal. It was life with the one you saved and fell for.
