Khaniah laid back on her bed, her head propped up against her plush Hello Kitty pillow as she scrolled through Ma'khari's art page.
He had just posted a new sketch-a side profile of a dark-skin girl with big doe eyes, long lashes, and full lips, her hair curly hair tied up in a messy ponytail.
It wasn't an exact replica of her, but she recognized herself in it instantly. Her stomach flipped when she saw the caption, "i'm obsessed with her".
Khaniah's fingers hovered over the screen, her heart thumping as she reread the caption.
Her teeth tugged at her bottom lip as she clicked the comments. A bunch of business proposals, and compliments on his skill filled the section.
Before she could overthink it, a notification popped up at the top of her screen.
"What do you want, Talon?" She sighed and answered the phone.
"Uhh, you by Wingstop?" His deep voice came through the speaker.
"Do I sound like I'm by Wingstop?" She rolled her eyes even though he couldn't see her.
"You could be, ion know your life," he shot back. "But if you is, gon' grab me a 10-piece. Lemon pepper, extra wet. Fries, extra seasoning. And a large peach Fanta."
"You got Wingstop money?" She scrunched her face at his request.
"Girl, stop playin'. Just get it, I'a Cash App you."
"Gimme a hundred dollars and I won't eat one of your wings." She grinned mischievously.
"Touch my food and we gon' have real problems, Niah."
Khaniah laughed, shaking her head. "Bye, Talon." She hung up in her brothers face.
"Oh my goshhhh," she groaned, briefly punching the air as she realized she had to get dressed for her finance class later anyway.
Khaniah sighed, sliding off her bed and stretching before heading to her closet. She slipped off her bonnet, smiling widely when her curls fell out, defined from being washed and finger coiled the night before.
Khaniah stood in front of her closet, eyeing her options before pulling out a pair of Miss Me jeans. The dark-wash denim hugged her curves perfectly, the rhinestone embellishments on the back pockets catching the light as she slipped them on.
She reached for her Ed Hardy cropped jacket next, the bold skull graphic design again the black fabric adding just the right amount of edge to her look.
Underneath, she wore a fitted black tank top that stopped just above her navel, her belly piercing glinting under the soft light of her room.
She sat on the edge of her bed, lacing up her Timbs snugly before standing and checking herself in the mirror.
Khaniah pulled into the parking lot of Talon's apartment complex, her fingers gripping the steering wheel as she glanced at the bag of wings beside her.
