It was lunchtime and they were already seated at their usual spot in the cafeteria. Baek sat comfortably with his arm draped over the back of Y/N's chair, his phone in one hand as he scrolled through an article. Every now and then, he'd show her something on the screen, occasionally making eye contact and chuckling softly.

Jang Mi sat across the table and watched them with suspicion. She elbowed the person beside her. "Don't you think they're acting weird?" she whispered. "Kinda touchy."

Jae Won spared them a glance before returning to his tray. "No? They've always been like that."

Jang Mi turned to him, staring as if he had just said the most oblivious thing in the world. Jae Won simply blinked at her, completely clueless.

She let out a deep sigh, shaking her head. "Never mind. You don't understand."

Meanwhile, Baek was scrolling through an article about himself. Mostly about the Sowol Bridge incident. There were tons of comments praising him, calling him a true doctor, some even suggesting he should be sent to the National Assembly. But one comment in particular made him sit up straighter.

Baek smirked and immediately began typing under the article, narrating as he did. " 'Way to go, Dr. Baek Kang Hyuk.' " He typed another. " 'Dr. Baek is one hot guy.' "

Jang Mi and Jae Won turned to stare at him. Baek already standing up with his tray along with Y/N's. "Thanks," she mouthed.

Baek winked. "Anything for you."

"Hot guy?" Jang Mi said. Baek glanced at her. "What? Why?"

Jang Mi raised an eyebrow. "Are you seriously commenting that about yourself?"

"What about it? Am I wrong, though?" Baek shrugged. 

Jang Mi made a face. "Gross." Jae Won stopped chewing his food and looked at her. 

Baek, halfway to the tray return suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned around. "Gross?" he repeated.

Jae Won panicked. "Huh? No, I didn't say it! It was Jang Mi!"

Jang Mi slowly turned to Jae Won with a sarcastic smile, her eyes practically saying 'really?'.

"Hm. Yeah. Sure," she muttered, standing up with her tray and walking off.

"Jang Mi," Y/N called out, trying to stop her.

Baek turned his gaze onto Jae Won, who gulped and immediately stood up to leave—only to get a loud flick to the forehead. "ACK!!"Jae Won yelped, sitting back down while clutching his forehead in pain.

Y/N gasped. 

"Do you not understand what I'm doing?" Baek asked. He pulled out a chair and sat beside Jae Won, his gaze shifting between him and Y/N.

"You two tell me, what do our colleagues think about our department?"

"We're in the red," Y/N began.

Baek nodded. "Go on."

"We're a giant nuisance," she added.

Another nod. "Exactly. So what should we do in these circumstances?"
