SCENE 7: THE NEXT DAY
Morning came, but for Yelena, the world remained dark.
The sound of knocking woke her, followed by a voice-distant, unfamiliar, yet filled with a quiet sorrow.
"Miss Yelena... it's the police. We need to talk."
Her hands trembled as she unlocked the door. Two officers stood outside, their faces unreadable. But she already knew. Something in their eyes, the heaviness in the air-it told her everything before they even spoke.
She shook her head slowly, stepping back. "No..."
One of the officers exhaled softly. "Miss, there was an accident last night. A car crash. We found the body early this morning."
Her breath hitched. The walls around her felt like they were closing in.
"It was Nero," the officer continued gently. "I'm so sorry."
The words shattered her.
Her knees gave out. A strangled sob escaped her lips as she collapsed onto the floor, shaking violently.
This couldn't be real.
Nero couldn't be gone.
Someone was screaming. It took her a moment to realize the voice was her own.
Tears blurred her vision, her chest heaving as she clutched at her heart, as if she could physically hold the breaking pieces together. But it was useless. She was falling apart, unraveling from the inside.
"Miss Yelena," one of the officers started, but she couldn't hear him anymore.
She stumbled to her feet, blindly moving toward her bedroom. She slammed the door shut and locked it.
The world outside no longer existed.
Darkness. Silence. Pain.
That was all that remained.
