Silk.
That was the first thing Jiyu felt when she started regaining consciousness.
Slowly, her eyes fluttered open, the dim lights allowing her to see the beautifully aesthetic ceiling above her.
For a second, she thought she was dreaming—that she was a princess or something. Only, she wasn’t dreaming.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she slowly sat up, looking around her. The furniture looked like something she would see in a fairy tale, with its brown color making her eyes feel comfortable—as did the paintings scattered elegantly around the walls.
The smell of a musk candle made its way to her nostrils, making her feel even more comfortable. But then, her nonexistent survival instinct woke her up, making her realize she didn’t actually know where she was.
She moved the beige cover off her, her legs making contact with the smooth carpet. She took careful steps until she grabbed the doorknob, turning it and opening the door. Her eyes widened as she stepped outside the room, looking around her in awe.
She was on the second floor of a mansion—not a modern one. It could be, but it was designed to have those vintage vibes. Her hands made contact with the railing across from the room; it was not as huge as the ones she would see in the movies—only a second floor and the main floor downstairs, with one of those ancient heaters and a brownish couch and chairs around.
She chose to ignore the man sitting with a book on the closest chair to the heater and the little dog sleeping next to his legs.
There was also an open dining room. The whole place had paintings everywhere; she admired them all as she walked through the hallway, then walked downstairs after.
The vampire was not wearing the same dark red attire he had worn before. He was now wearing silk black pants with a silk black robe. His dark, long hair (RIP) fell slightly as he read his book.
He ignored Jiyu's existence as she took closer steps toward him until she was a few feet away. She raised an eyebrow.
"Isn't it rude to ignore your guests, bloodsucker?" She crossed her arms, and he smirked.
"Didn't you faint out of fear earlier?" He looked up at her, placing the book on the coffee table as he stood up.
Jiyu was scared—again.
She scoffed. "I was just surprised."
Hyunjin chuckled briefly, taking a step closer, and she took a step back, avoiding his eyes.
"Sure." He crossed his arms as well, and she gathered her courage to look into his eyes again.
She blinked. His eyes weren’t red.
They were brown.
He raised an eyebrow, as if waiting for her to ask her questions.
"W… what about my car?" she stammered.
"It’s in the garage outside," he answered calmly, and she thought for a moment.
"And… well… where are we? Did you take me to a hidden vampire kingdom or something?!" She started to panic, making him scoff.
"The fuck are you talking about? We're literally in Gangnam."
"Gangnam?" She furrowed her eyebrows.
"Yes, and you can always thank me for saving you, you know."
"And why would a vampire help me? You’re not gonna say something like my blood smells special or something, right?"
Hyunjin rolled his eyes. "Are you a Twilight fan by any chance?"
Jiyu shrugged. "Used to be, during my teenage years."
"I could tell." Hyunjin took another step closer, but this time, she didn’t step back. "You're not totally wrong, though."
Jiyu furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"
"I didn’t save you for free. You owe me one." He smirked again, and Jiyu could feel herself getting nervous.
"What do you mean?"
Hyunjin turned, sitting on his chair again, crossing his legs as he looked up at her.
"You know… I need fresh blood every now and then. Those plastic blood bags aren’t that delicious."
Jiyu swallowed. "You mean…"
"Be my blood bag."
…
"The fuck?" Jiyu frowned, and he shrugged.
"You’ll give me blood every week. A bag of blood is worth your life, isn’t it?" Hyunjin leaned his cheek on his fist.
"I… why do you think I’ll give you my blood? What makes you think I won’t escape eventually?" Jiyu stammered.
And Hyunjin’s eyes turned red, his signature smirk appearing again. "Can you?"
Jiyu took a step back, avoiding his eyes again.
"What do you have in mind?" she asked, already knowing there was no escape.
"You stay here until I get enough fresh blood for a few years."
"What about my work?"
"You can go. I don’t care about your life; you can do whatever you want."
"My stuff?"
"Give me the address, and I’ll bring them."
Jiyu thought for a moment. She was considering leaving her house anyway; it was getting harder to live alone there.
She wouldn’t have to pay rent here—only give a few drops of blood every week.
"Fine." She declared, finally looking into his eyes with determination.
He raised an eyebrow. "That easy?" He blinked, his eyes turning brown again.
Jiyu nodded.
"I’ll be your blood bag."
