You trudged through the heavy, biting snow behind Papyrus. Ever since the incident a few weeks ago, everything between you two had shifted. His outburst, which was unexpected and uncontrolled, had changed the way you saw him, and you couldn't help but feel differently. Papyrus, too, had begun acting differently around you. He was no longer as harsh or as distant. His feelings seemed to be in conflict, evident in the way he tried to hide them, but one thing was clear: he couldn't bring himself to leave you alone at home anymore.

Every day since then, if Papyrus had to go anywhere or run an errand, he always insisted you come with him. It seemed to lift his spirits, while also giving you a chance to get out of the house. Even if he didn't want to admit it, he liked having you around him as so did you. It gave you a warm feeling inside as you looked at him with a smile.

"So, why are we going to Alphys's lab again? You hate going there." You asked as you hugged yourself, keeping in all the warmth you had.

Papyrus glanced over his shoulder, letting out a frustrated scoff. "The lab rat leaked some information about my father. I wasn't concerned when Mettaton heard it, but now it's reached the King. And that's a problem. So, we're just going to have a little 'discussion.'" He growled, his tone bordering on threatening.

You did a sigh. "You know Papyrus, even if it did reach King Asgore, what are you supposed to do?" You asked.

There was a brief pause as Papyrus mulled over his words, a quiet frustration settling in. He let out a resigned sigh. "As you already know, there's not much that can be done. But I don't want any more of my family history, or my personal life for that matter, to get out." His voice dropped to a quieter tone as you both entered Waterfall. The biting cold was replaced by a damp, cool breeze, the air thick with humidity.

You couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the skeleton. "This isn't your fault, you know," you murmured, your voice softer but laced with frustration. "This doesn't change who you are." You were more agitated than he seemed to be at that moment, the weight of it all settling on you instead.

Why did it bother you so much? Everything was in the past, and nothing could be done to change it. Yet people rejoiced in spreading his information as if he were the one who caused all of it. Your eyebrows narrowed with frustration as you let your arms drop to your sides.

He glanced over his shoulder once more, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth before he refocused on the path ahead. "You've said that before," he remarked. "Though, it seems you're the only one who thinks so, human." He sighed softly, his voice dropping to a whisper. "You're an odd creature."

You heard him clearly, despite the low tone.

You decided to let your frustration slip away and quickened your pace, catching up to Papyrus. Without thinking, you reached out and took his hand. To your surprise, it was warmer than you'd expected, considering you'd been walking through the snow. He froze in place, caught off guard by the sudden contact, and you collided with him, stumbling slightly. His cheeks turned a deep shade of red, and his eyes widened in shock. You could tell he wasn't used to this kind of affection.
