Papyrus noticed your discomfort immediately. With a sigh, he pinched the bridge of his nose, his face flushing slightly. "You're fine. I won't let anything happen to you," he said quietly, his voice softer now, as if trying to reassure both you and himself. He cringed slightly at his reply before he shook it off.
The sound of shuffling came from behind the door before it slid open with a loud creak. There stood Alphys, wearing her usual stained lab coat, arms crossed over her chest. Her iconic black and red turtleneck clung to her frame, and her glasses slid down slightly, a crack visible in one of the lenses. She looked at Papyrus with a cocked expression, clearly unimpressed by his presence.
But when her eyes landed on you, her expression shifted. A wide grin spread across her face. "Now, this is a surprise, even for you, Guardsman," she remarked, her voice a mix of intrigue and amusement.
Without another word, she practically lunged toward you, grabbing your wrist with surprising speed and dragging you inside with a startled yelp. You instinctively turned your head toward Papyrus, silently pleading for help.
Papyrus let out an exasperated sigh, shaking his head. He followed her inside, the door sliding shut behind him with a soft thud. He knew this was about to be a mess, but there was no turning back now.
Once inside, Alphys immediately began inspecting you, her eyes scanning every detail with a mix of excitement and curiosity. "Wow, you look so much better than last time!" she exclaimed, her voice almost frantic. "What have you been eating? Drinking? What does a typical day look like for you?" She stammered out the questions as she gently lifted your arms, examining you with a focus that bordered on obsession.
"U-uh, just... normal food? Water?" you responded hesitantly, unsure what she was getting at.
Without warning, Alphys moved quickly, lifting your shirt as she examined you more closely. "Intriguing!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with sudden enthusiasm.
You yelped, "Whoa hold on!" caught off guard by her sudden action, instinctively trying to pull away from her.
Papyrus groaned in frustration, quickly striding over and yanking you away from the scientist. You stumbled into him, and he caught you by the waist, holding your wrist above your head. For a moment, you just blinked, trying to process what had just happened.
Your face turned a shade of red as you met his gaze, but he quickly looked away, his voice low and annoyed. "Don't give me that look," he growled, pulling your shirt back down before releasing his grip. He crossed his arms, clearly flustered.
You offered a small, shy smile. "Thank you."
Papyrus flinched, his face reddening slightly. He looked away, pushing your forehead gently as if to distance himself. "Quit acting like that. You're creeping me out," he muttered, walking toward Alphys.
You chuckled softly, standing up and fixing yourself. "Sorry, I forgot you get flustered so easily." You laughed, warmth blooming in your chest at the sight of his awkwardness.
Alphys placed a finger to her chin with a curious smile. "Now that's interesting," she mused as Papyrus halted in his tracks.
"What? It's the same human you saw not too long ago. Don't be so obsessive," he groaned, sounding increasingly annoyed.
Alphys chuckled, shaking her head. "Don't be so foolish. Even you can see it, a human and a monster getting along this well in the Underground is a rare sight." She picked up her tablet, her eyes gleaming with intrigue.
You narrowed your eyes, glancing at Papyrus, who seemed just as perplexed. "What do you mean, Alphys? You're being ridiculous." He mocked, stepping closer and snatching the tablet from her hands.
