"Hey!" Alphys snapped, reaching out to grab it back. "Give that back, you pile of bones!"
You sighed, stepping between them. "Don't tease the lizard, Papyrus."
Papyrus's patience finally snapped, and he let out a frustrated yell. "Enough! I'm not here for you to drool over the human or ask your weird questions. I want to know how that robot of yours got ahold of my information!" His voice echoed, silencing the room.
Alphys crossed her arms and cocked her hip, glaring at him. "Seriously? That's why you're here, wasting my time?"
You sighed softly. "You know that's personal information, stuff only you would have since you knew him before the war."
Papyrus shot you a sharp look, clearly not considering that possibility. His frustration flared, and he growled, "I don't need your help, (Y/N)."
His intensity made you hesitate. You could see the fury simmering beneath his bones, so you decided to back off for now.
"Sorry." You muttered quietly before setting your jacket and sweater on the nearby table, letting him handle this himself.
Papyrus took a deep breath, visibly collecting himself before focusing back on Alphys. Her expression was flat, her eyes half-lidded with irritation. She rolled her eyes and sighed.
"I have no idea, Papyrus," she replied, walking over to her computer. Her claws tapped rhythmically against the keyboard. "That robot doesn't have access to my records, and even if it did, it couldn't pull all of that without my authorization."
Her voice was dismissive like she was already over the entire conversation. You glanced at Papyrus, wondering if he'd accept that answer or if his frustration would boil over again.
"Then how did she find all that information on such short notice? It's all over the Underground, even the king knows about it," Papyrus growled, his voice dark and dangerous. He leaned against the desk behind Alphys, effectively trapping her. "And you know how bad that is for one of the king's guardsmen." His tone was low, almost a warning.
A shiver ran down your spine. Seeing this side of Papyrus was unsettling, a sharp reminder of the intensity he could carry beneath his composed exterior.
Alphys didn't flinch. Instead, she rolled her eyes, her annoyance flaring. "Well, if you'd stop breathing down my neck like a dog, I was about to check if she had help overriding the system." She snapped back.
Your eyes widened, and your mouth fell open. How was she not terrified by his threat? Even though it wasn't aimed at you, the weight of his anger made your heart pound. You knew just how dangerous Papyrus could be when pushed too far, yet Alphys stood her ground like it was nothing.
Papyrus let out a huff before backing away, finally giving Alphys some space. Her eyes remained glued to the screen in front of her, fingers tapping impatiently.
You bit your lip, boredom starting to creep in. Your gaze drifted around the room, searching for anything to hold your attention while Papyrus dealt with his situation. Noticing your wandering eyes, he leaned down, his towering presence close enough for you to feel his breath.
"Whatever you do, don't touch anything," he whispered, his voice low and firm. "Otherwise, explore, do as you wish while I handle this... lizard."
Straightening back up, he caught the small smile tugging at your lips and immediately scoffed, waving his hand dismissively. "Go on before I change my mind and make you endure this with me." He growled, his cheekbones tinged with a familiar red.
